MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />NOVEMBER 5, 1997 <br />Present: Council President Boehmer, Council Members Limpert, Lind, McKay, <br />Musial, Nashar, O'Grady, Saringer <br />Also Present: Mayor Boyle, Law Director Gareau, Finance Director Burns, Clerk of <br />Council Seman <br />Council President Boehmer called the meeting to order at 8 p.m. in Council Chambers, <br />5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance <br />to the Flag. <br />Mr. McKay moved to approve the minutes of the Council meeting of October 21, 1997 as <br />written. The motion was seconded by Mr. O'Grady and unanimously approved. <br />REPORTS <br />Mayor Boyle: 1) Council has been provided copies of the recreation survey that was <br />recently completed. It is suggested that Council address the requests made by the <br />residents first in a committee and then as Council as a whole. <br />2) On first reading tonight is legislation authorizing the hiring of a consultant regarding the <br />telecommunication towers. It is important that a consultant is put on board soon so that <br />the city can make recommendations as to the location of antennas. <br />Law Director Gareau: 1) The negotiations with the bus drivers reached an impasse, and <br />SERB appointed a mediator. We were unable to reach an ageement, and the matter will <br />now be referred to fact-finding. Once the fact-finder's report is presented, Council may, <br />by atwo-thirds vote, reject or accept the report. If the report is rejected by either the <br />union or the city, the employees have a right to strike. <br />2) A meeting will be held on Friday with the County Auditor's office regarding the <br />hoteUmotel tax. He has had an opportunity to do some research regarding this issue, <br />particularly on the Statute of Limitations, and this will be discussed during the meeting. <br />3) Next Monday, the administration and the city engineers will meet with the City of <br />Westlake to discuss obstructions in the various lines going into Westlake which choke off <br />water flowing through our ditches and pipes. <br />4) Insurance counsel is in the process of preparing briefs for the Moran case. The Law <br />Department has reviewed the briefs and made modifications and corrections where <br />appropriate. <br />d <br />;: <br /> <br />
