MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />~.,~ OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />AUGUST 5, 1997 <br />Present: Council President Boehmer, Council Members Limpert, McKay, Musial, <br />Nashar, O'Grady, Saringer <br />Also Present: Mayor Boyle, Law Director Gareau, Finance Director Burns, Clerk of <br />Council Seman <br />Absent: Council Member Lind <br />Council President Boehmer called the meeting to order at 8:05 p.m. in Council Chambers, <br />5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance <br />to the Flag. <br />Mr. McKay moved to approve the minutes of the Council meeting of June 17, 1997 as <br />written; second by Mr. Nashar; motion passed unanimously. <br />Mr. O'Grady moved to approve the minutes of the special Council meeting of July 1, 1997 <br />as written; second by Mr. Limpert; motion passed unanimously. <br />President Boehmer announced that Ordinances 97-59, 97-63 and 97-68 would be passed <br />under suspension of the rule. <br />REPORTS <br />Mayor Boyle: 1) Kaiser Permanente will be moving out of North Olmsted on August 15. <br />Patient questions should be directed to Mr. David Crosby at 479-5770. <br />2) On June 30, the Ohio EPA conducted a reconnaissance inspection of the city's <br />industrial pre-treatment program. Their comments were as follows: "The pre-treatment <br />program continues to be an effective and essential mechanism for controlling the <br />discharged toxic substances of the North Olmsted Sewer and Wastewater Treatment <br />Plant. The city should continue its efforts." <br />3) The Board of Control met on July 23 and awarded the Allendale/Carey sewer project to <br />Fabrizi Trucking for $359,316, which was under the estimate of $383,000. <br />4) In addition to some of our neighboring communities that have passed the sweatshop <br />ordinance, the following cities outside of Ohio has also passed the legislation: San <br />Francisco, California; Burlington, Vermont; Bangor, Maine; Austin, Texas; Flint, <br />Michigan; Allentown, Pennsylvania. <br />,tr~. <br />~.- <br />
