MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />MAY 20, 1997 <br />Present: Council President Boehmer, Council Members Limpert, Lind, McKay, <br />Musial, Nashar, O'Grady, Saringer <br />Also Present: Mayor Boyle, Finance Director Burns, Acting Clerk of Council McFarland <br />Council President Boehmer called the meeting to order at 8:01 p.m. in Council Chambers, <br />5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />The Pledge of Allegiance was led by the 1997 Scout Honorary Officials. <br />Mr. McKay moved to approve the minutes of the Council meeting of May 7, 1997; second <br />by Mr. Lind; motion passed unanimously. <br />Mr. O'Grady moved to approve the minutes of the special Council meeting of May 14, <br />1997; second by Mr. Nashar; motion passed unanimously. <br />Mayor Boyle presented a proclamation to Susan Harrington, a representative of the Red <br />Cross, in recognition of the help and assistance given to the community during the fire at <br />the Carlton Park Apartments. <br />Mayor Boyle introduced Councilman Thomas E. O'Grady and his mother, Mrs. Mary <br />O'Grady. After the passing of Councilman Thomas P. O'Grady in 1991, City Council <br />passed Resolution No. 91-194 paying tribute to him and setting forth his many <br />accomplishments. Mr. O'Grady served as the Ward II Councilman from January, 1984 <br />until May, 1991. Mr. O'Grady was not only a dedicated public servant, but he was a <br />devoted husband and father and a devout Catholic. He volunteered his time and abilities <br />through activities as a member and Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, as a <br />member of St. Brendan's Church and as a volunteer at Providence House. With the <br />passage of the resolution, it was Council's intent to dedicate the Council Chambers to the <br />memory of past Councilpersons who served the City of North Olmsted. In that regard, a <br />portrait of Councilman O'Grady was to be hung in the Council Chambers as a reminder of <br />the dedicated service he gave to the citizens of North Olmsted. This evening, Mayor <br />Boyle and Councilman O'Grady placed the portrait and a plaque at the entrance to <br />Council Chambers. The inscription on the plaque reads: "Dedicated to Thomas P. <br />O'Grady, Councilman Ward II, in grateful appreciation for his outstanding service and <br />dedication to our city, 1984 to 1991." Councilman O'Grady expressed his personal <br />thanks and that of his family. <br /> <br />
