We have applied for this
grant for a number of years, and our persistence has finally paid off.
Finance Director Burns: 1) This evening the pre-audit conference for the 1996 audit was
held. Work actually began in February, and the target date is June 30. Basically, the work
is on schedule and we should meet the deadline. This year there is no requirement that we
formulate an official statement.
2) Regarding the two note ordinances recently passed, the note providing for the police
station project will be paid out of the HoteUMotel Fund. Legislation to establish the
ability for the Hotel/Motel Fund to pay the debt service for the construction of the
building is on third reading tonight. The Allendale project is being funded partially from
income tax money and from the $200,000 note that will be issued. If the project runs less
than the $500,000 that has been provided, the money can be used either for reduction of
debt or for other capital projects.
2
