Council Minutes of 5/20/97
Council President Boehmer introduced former Mr. Scouting David Dillon
Mr. Dillon announced that All Scouts Weekend would be held on May 30, 31 and June 1
in North Olmsted Park. He then introduced Mr. and Mrs. Scouting for 1997, Mrs.
Bernadette Plantner and Mr. John Jones. Mrs. Plantner and Mr. Jones came forward and
were recognized by City Council and the administration. Mayor Boyle will present
proclamations to them during All Scouts Weekend ceremonies. Mr. Dillon introduced the
1997 Scout Honorary Officials who came forward to be congratulated by their
counterparts:
Mayor Christine Liedtke, Troop 543
Philip Plantner, Troop 630
Law Director Melissa Huttinger, Troop 1336
Finance Director Nancy Harloff, Troop 658
President of Council Sherry Warrick, Troop 1336
Ward I Wendy Herbster, Troop 543
Ward II Lisa Belluomini, Troop 1336
Ward III Edward Poole, Troop 664
Ward IV Rosemary Dickson, Troop 1336
Council-at-Large Emily Zarzycki, Troop 658
Council-at-Large Jonathan Gummow, Troop 53
Council-at-Large Ryan Humphries, Troop 664
Mayor Boyle presented proclamations to the Honorary Mayors Christine Liedtke and
Philip Plantner in recognition of their achievements in Scouting. The 1997 Scout
Honorary Officials were congratulated by all present.
REPORTS
Mayor Boyle: 1) Personnel & Administrative Director Wilamosky informed him today
that the city has been awarded an $80,000 grant to be used in the repair and
reconstruction of the roof above the Recreation Center ice rink. We have applied for this
grant for a number of years, and our persistence has finally paid off.
Finance Director Burns: 1) This evening the pre-audit conference for the 1996 audit was
held. Work actually began in February, and the target date is June 30. Basically, the work
is on schedule and we should meet the deadline. This year there is no requirement that we
formulate an official statement.
2) Regarding the two note ordinances recently passed, the note providing for the police
station project will be paid out of the HoteUMotel Fund. Legislation to establish the
ability for the Hotel/Motel Fund to pay the debt service for the construction of the
building is on third reading tonight. The Allendale project is being funded partially from
income tax money and from the $200,000 note that will be issued. If the project runs less
than the $500,000 that has been provided, the money can be used either for reduction of
debt or for other capital projects.
2
