Ordinance No. 97-33 adopted.
MISCELLANEOUS BUSINESS
Mrs. Saringer assigned Ordinance 97-45 to the Transportation and Public Safety
Committees; Resolution 97-46 and Ordinance 97-47 were assigned to the Finance
Committee.
Mayor Boyle requested that Council hold a special meeting to pass Ordinance Nos. 97-42
and 97-43 so that the projects can begin. President Pro Tem Saringer agreed and
announced that a special Council meeting for the passage of Ordinance Nos. 97-42 and
97-43 would be held at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday, May 14. The special Council meeting
will follow the 6 p.m. Finance/Recreation/Council-as-a-Whole Committee meeting with
MetroSite Management to discuss telecommunication antennas. Mayor Boyle requested
that the Safety Director, Service Director, Finance Director and Law Director attend the
6 p.m. committee meeting.
Mayor Boyle noted that some minor changes would be made to Ordinance 97-47 which
had been assigned to the Finance Committee.
Mr. Nashar and Mr. Limpert scheduled a joint Public Safety/Transportation Committee
meeting for Wednesday, May 14, immediately following the Recreation Commission
meeting. The committee will discuss Resolution 97-37 and Ordinance 97-45. The Safety
Director is asked to attend.
Mr. Limpert commented that he and Mr. O'Grady are currently attending the Leadership
Academy through Cleveland State. Last week they hosted the group in North Olmsted--
the Friday night session at the new fire station and Saturday morning session at
Springvale. All attendees were impressed with the facilities and felt that Springvale was a
fantastic place for meetings of that nature. At the Saturday session, he had arranged with
another suburb to bring a police car which was equipped with video cameras. He thought
that the Mayor would be at the meeting and apologized for not sending him a copy of the
memo notifying the Safety Director. He and Mr. O'Grady are working together on the
issue of equipping police cars with video cameras. Mr. O'Grady agreed that he and Mr.
Limpert were cooperating on this issue and commented that the video cameras are
protection for police officers and citizens. He related an incident that occurred in the City
of Mayfield where a robbery had taken place on a residential street. Avideo-equipped
police car had patrolled the street earlier in the day and the film was used to identify a car
that did not belong in the neighborhood. Consequently, the robbers were apprehended.
9
