MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />~,, OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />DECEMBER 15, 1998 <br />Present: Council President Saringer, Council Members Gareau, Kasler, Limpert, <br />McKay, Miller, Nashar, O'Grady <br />Also Present: Mayor Musial, Law Director Gareau, Finance Director Copfer, Clerk of <br />Council Seman <br />Council President Saringer called the meeting to order at 8 p.m. in Council Chambers, <br />5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in reciting the Pledge of <br />Allegiance to the Flag. <br />Council President Saringer announced: Ordinances 98-99, 98-147 and 98-149 would be <br />passed under suspension of the rule; a special Council meeting will be held at 7:15 p.m. <br />on Tuesday, December 29, 1998. <br />The minutes of the Council meeting of November 17, 1998 were approved as written. <br />The minutes of the Council meeting of December 1, 1998 were approved as corrected. <br />REPORTS <br />Mayor Musial: 1) The Christmas Tree Lighting was held on Thursday, December 10. <br />Santa Claus assured the Mayor that it was the largest crowd he has seen in ten years! A <br />good time was had by all. Thanks go out to all who helped make it a success, especially <br />members of the Service Department, the Spruce Elementary School Choir, the North <br />Olmsted High School Brass Band and the Deerfield Park Civic Association for <br />decorating the Christmas tree. <br />2) On behalf of the City of North Olmsted, the Mayor wished everyone a joyous <br />Christmas and a very happy, prosperous and healthy New Year. On a personal note, the <br />Mayor thanked Council for their help and cooperation during the past year. <br />Law Director Gareau: 1) Negotiations with the firefighters union have begun and <br />hopefully will be completed prior to the first of the year. <br />2) A lawsuit has been filed against NOMBL, and it has been turned over to RTA. <br />3) The Law Department has answered the request for production of documents in the case <br />involving the destruction of a city fire hydrant on Columbia Road. <br />4) The firefighters union has given notice of intent to arbitrate an issue where the Fire <br />Chief ordered one of the firefighters to submit medical evidence for any future absences. <br />~ The individual filed a grievance indicating that he did not believe the union contract <br /> <br />
