MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL .< . OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED ;,;~. SEPTEMBER 15, 1998 Present: Council President Saringer Council Members Gareau, Kasler, Limpert, McKay, Miller, Nashar, O'Grady Also Present: Mayor Musial, Law Director Gareau, Finance Director Copfer, Clerk of Council Seman Council President Saringer called the meeting to order at 8:03 p.m. in Council Chambers, 5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. Members of the audience were invited to join Council in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. Mrs. Kasler asked that the minutes of the Council meeting of September 1, 1998 be corrected on page 11 changing the date of the vote approving the Crocker-Stearns extension to 1988. The minutes were approved as corrected. REPORTS Mayor Musial: 1) The slab contract has been sent to the contractor for execution as have the contracts for north Barton Road and Lansing Drive. 2) The federal government is gearing up for Census 2000, and Mary Creadon from the Mayor's office will be the coordinator for the city. Maps received from the federal government have been updated with the help of City Engineer Deichmann. The updated address list will be provided to the government shortly. The actual "head count" in North Olmsted will be done by 200 volunteers over a three month period. 3) The Issue 2 application is being prepared and the information will be presented to Council at the Finance Committee meeting on September 24. The three projects which will be applied for are' a five-lane intersection at Clague Road, north and south of Lorain Road; turning lanes at Fitch Road and Burns Road and resurfacing of Butternut Ridge Road; turning lanes at the intersection of Barton and Bradley roads. 4) A Ward I Town Hall meeting will be held at the Community Cabin on September 23. So far, we have received approximately 340 survey responses. The initial determination review indicates concern about why the Crocker-Stearns extension is taking so long, backyard flooding and concerns regarding the Recreation Center. The Ward III Town Hall meeting will be held at Spruce elementary school on October 22, and the Ward II meeting will be held at Maple school on November 18.
