The city/school cooperation and presentation
in the Community Cabin was a real success. We accomplished our intention of a new
presence and involvement in Homecoming with more publicity of the festivities. Drawing
winners were: Rick Merkel won the bicycle; Susie Tomko won the dog house which was
fabricated during the Homecoming by the Building Department; Annie Shimko and Laura
Asseff won trees.
2) Castle Pines, a senior citizen housing complex to be located on Lorain Road, will be
starting preliminary construction work as soon as approval is received by the various
boards, commissions and Council. This complex will have 153 apartments for
independent living, 50 retirement living apartments with services and a 50-bed skilled
nursing home facility with the potential to add an additional 26 beds. The developer is in
the process of resubmitting the plans to the various boards and commissions because it has
been three years since the original proposal was approved. We have received many calls
regarding the need and interest in senior housing. This development will be an asset to the
residents and the city as a whole.
. ..r~.., , ..: _ ,._
