Council Minutes of 9/1/98 <br />LEGISLATION <br />,~,, Resolution No. 98-72 introduced by Mr. Limpert on behalf of Mayor Musial was given its <br />third reading. A resolution authorizing the Director of Public Service to advertise for bids <br />for the enclosure of the wet well at the Dover Lift Station in the City of North Olmsted as <br />detailed in the specifications on file and authorizing the Mayor to contract for the same, <br />and declaring an emergency. Mr. Limpert moved for adoption; second by Mr. McKay; <br />motion passed unanimously. Resolution No. 98-72 adopted. <br />Ordinance No. 98-80 introduced by Mayor Musial was given its third reading. An <br />ordinance approving and authorizing the execution of an agreement with the North <br />Olmsted City School District providing for the sharing of certain municipal income tax <br />revenues related to a project to be owned and constructed by Duke Realty Limited <br />Partnership, and declaring an emergency. Mr. O'Grady moved for adoption; second by <br />Mr. Limpert. Roll call: O'Grady, abstain, with comment. "As an employee of the North <br />Olmsted City School District, I will abstain from any future votes that deal with that <br />district." Roll call continued: Limpert, yes; McKay, yes; Miller, yes; Nashar, yes; Kasler, <br />yes; Gareau, yes. The motion passed with six affirmative votes and one abstention. <br />Ordinance No. 98-80 adopted. <br />Ordinance No. 98-81 introduced by Mr. Gareau was given its third reading. An ordinance <br />accepting a storm sewer easement located on property owned by L. R. & N. J. Keadey <br />and designated as Permanent Parcel No. 232-02-006 Cuyahoga County Maps and Records <br />said easement shown on Exhibit "A" and declaring an emergency. Mr. Gareau moved for <br />adoption; second by Mr. McKay; motion passed unanimously. Ordinance No. 98-81 <br />adopted. <br />Resolution No. 98-82 introduced by Mr. Limpert and Mr. O'Grady was given its third <br />reading. A resolution calling upon the Ohio Department of Transportation, the Cuyahoga <br />County Engineer and the Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency to maintain the <br />current start date scheduled for August 2001 for the Crocker-Stearns extension due to the <br />importance of this project for the people of North Olmsted, and the people of our <br />surrounding communities, and declaring an emergency, as amended. Mr. O'Grady moved <br />for adoption; second by Mr. Limpert. Roll call: O'Grady, yes, with comment: "For the <br />past several months, residents have been coming to me asking when is the Crocker- <br />Stearns extension going to go through. These are residents living on Porter and Barton <br />Roads. These are residents living on Lansing Drive, which like other streets, is being <br />destroyed by a high volume of cut-through traffic. These are residents living in my own <br />development of Bretton Ridge and on Stearns Road. I've explained to these people that <br />on paper the project is scheduled for late in the year 2001. But I've also told these people <br />and I will again tell you here tonight that in reality this project will not occur until funds <br />are appropriated. And that funds will not be appropriated until this city emphasizes the <br />need for this project as a means of safeguarding our citizens and improving our quality of <br />life. When asked by these same people what I have done to emphasize this need, I tell <br />them how Councilman Limpert and I sponsored a resolution two years ago to ask ODOT <br />to keep this project on track.
