Council Minutes of 4/21/98
problems that are occurring. In answer to Mr. Miller's question, Mr. Bohlmann stated
` that the TV cameras and truck were functioning very well. The city is considering
purchasing a smaller camera this year that will fit into 4 inch laterals, specifically for footer
drains around a house.
William and Jan Cameron, 6305 Christman, expressed concern about the Stafford flooding
because it is coming to their street. When it rains, two-thirds of their back yard is covered
in water. It was explained to the Camerons that they should call and report flooding each
time it happens. Mr. Gareau explained that, although it may seem like they are wasting
their time by calling, it does help the city track the problems and identify patterns. In
response to Mrs. Cameron's question of whether city employees look at the entire area
when called out, Mr. Bohlmann said they do write down everything they can see.
Unfortunately, they are often called out in the middle of the night and can only see so
much using flashlights. Mr. Bohlmann said that, when work was done in the Bretton
Ridge and Park Ridge areas, because of back yard flooding, the city offered residents
connections off the storm sewer system to tap in for the back yard water problems. A
number of people accepted, and a number of people did not. The connections from the
storm sewers were put in to the tee inside the sidewalk, and it was the resident's
responsibility to do it from that point on. That service is still being offered. However, it
should be noted that this is for residents on the storm sewer side of the street.
LEGISLATION
Ordinance No. 98-20 introduced by Mr. Gareau was given its third reading.
