MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />DECEMBER 7, 1999 <br />Present: Council President Saringer, Council Members Gareau, Kasler, Limpert, <br />McKay, Miller, Nashar, O'Grady <br />Also Present: Mayor Musial, Law Director Gareau, Finance Director Copfer, Clerk of <br />Council Seman <br />Council President Saringer called the meeting to order at 8:10 p.m. in Council Chambers, <br />5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in reciting the Pledge of <br />Allegiance to the Flag. <br />The minutes of the Council meeting of November 3, 1999 were approved as written. <br />Mr. O'Grady moved to amend the agenda to include Ordinance 99-167 and Ordinance <br />99-168. The motion was seconded by Mr. Limpert and unanimously approved. <br />President Saringer announced that Ordinance 99-158 would be passed under suspension <br />of the rule. <br />President Saringer announced that a public hearing would be held on Wednesday, <br />December 8, at 7 p.m. for Ordinance 99-139 and at 7:30 p.m. on Ordinance 99-140. <br />REPORTS <br />Mayor: 1) The Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, <br />December 9. Everyone is invited to attend to hear the Spruce School Choir and the North <br />Olmsted High School Pep Band, visit with Santa Claus and enjoy refreshments. The <br />ceremony will be held outside, so dress warm. <br />2) With regards to Y2K and the Police and Fire Departments, we were up to full staffing <br />with regard to these two departments in terms of making sure we have adequate <br />personnel and staffing for any potential, although not likely, Y2K problems until this <br />week when one of our police officers resigned to take a position as a community police <br />officer at Cuyahoga Community College. <br />3) Regarding the airport noise problem, there was another hearing with regard to the <br />extension of the Cleveland Hopkins Airport on November 30. Councilman McKay <br />attended the hearing and will provide a report. The Mayor's comments made at that <br />particular gathering will be in a written form. He does feel that the extension of the <br />Cleveland Hopkins Airport should be blocked. If we are going to go into inter- <br />continental airplane traffic, we should be building a regional airport 40 to 50 miles away <br /> <br />
