Council Minutes of 12/7/1999 proposal subject to the recommendations of the various boazds and commissions of the city and further subject to the requirement that the front features of the store would wrap azound to the west side of the building to shield roof top units. Mr. Gazeau moved that Council approve the Fish Furniture proposal subject to all the recommendations and requirements of the boazds, commissions and committees. The motion was seconded by Mr. McKay and unanimously approved. • Reclining Furniture Company, 25151 Lorain Road, with a proposal to alter and renovate the front facade as well as undertaking interior renovations. Representing the Reclining Furniture Company was Mr. Dan Bickerstaff. This is the former Casa LaSalle, which is just east of Great Northern Boulevazd where it meets Lorain. The proposal consists of constructing two masonry piers that will project out from the entry way to accent the entry and redevelop the front face of the building. The piers and canopy will project out from the building approximately five feet. They will match the masonry materials which aze currently on the structure. This building currently has an existing black asphalt shingle, which is in the form of a mansard. That will be removed at the center of the structure. The shingle roof will be removed and replaced with a EFIS system which is earth tone in color. The part of the roof that is not comprising the Reclining Furniture Company, which is occupied by other tenants, will also be removed and will be matched with the blue portion of the roof which exists on the far western portion of the building. The overall appearance of the building will be greatly improved over the mix match of colors and rooftop designs which currently exist at this strip shopping center. After discussion and going over the vazious issues presented by the plan, the committee unanimously recommended approval of the Reclining Furniture Company proposal subject to the recommendations of the boards and commissions of the City of North Olmsted. Mr. Gareau so moved that Council approve the proposal of the Reclining Furniture Company subject to all of the recommendations and requirements of the boards, commissions and committees. The motion was seconded by Mr. Miller and unanimously approved. • Chi-Chi's Mexican Restaurant, 26410 Great Northern Shopping Center, with an exterior renovation. The Chi-Chi's proposed renovation is done already. They did it, and then they submitted for approval. The proposal as proposed/completed was to paint the structure to give it more of a southwestern flair. The colors are really rather bright. There was a concern on the part of the committee that perhaps, because the painting was really at a minimum, the colors could be toned down somewhat. The gentleman representing Chi-Chi's agreed that he could check with corporate and find out whether or not a more toned down or softer color could be used. The Planning Commission also requested that the window trim in the doors not be painted vazious electric colors and that instead they simply match the rest of the building. Because a significant portion of the work was done already and because winter is upon us, the committee felt it was appropriate to allow the proposal to remain in committee until such time as answers to the questions about colors could be forwarded from the representative of Chi-Chi's. The committee agreed to hold the matter in committee. • Developer's Diversified, 26520 Lorain Road, with a proposal to alter and renovate the front facade as well as interior of the former Best Products building on Lorain Road.
