Council Minutes of 3/16/99 MISCELLANEOUS BUSINESS Mrs. Kasler apprised Council that, at the appropriations review meeting with the Safety Department, Chief Ruple was present and mentioned possible pending state legislation that would address increasing the level of financial responsibility of cities with regard to prisoner and prisoner care. Today, she found out that it will not be necessary for Council to voice an objection because no member of the legislature is willing to sponsor that particular bill. She has asked Chief Ruple and Mr. Jenkins to keep Council informed if that matter should come up again. Mr. O'Grady scheduled three Finance Committee meetings: Saturday, March 20, at 9 a.m. to discuss Ordinance 99-36, to revisit Ordinance 99-18 based on comments from Councilwoman Kasler and to discuss the appropriations ordinance. • Monday, March 22, at 6 p.m. to discuss appropriations. • Wednesday, March 24, at 6 p.m., to discuss appropriations. Mr. Limpert scheduled a joint meeting of the BZD and Legislative Committees for Tuesday, March 30, immediately following the special Council meeting. President Saringer announced a special Council meeting on Tuesday, March 30, at 7 p.m. to approve the budget, Ordinance 99-3 5. Mr. Nashar scheduled a Public Safety, Health & Welfare Committee meeting to discuss Ordinance 99-37 on Wednesday, March 24, immediately following the Finance Committee meeting. Mr. Jenkins is asked to attend. Mr. Gareau asked that the members of the Landmarks Commission be contacted and asked to attend the joint meeting of the BZD and Legislative Committees.
