Council Minutes of 3/2/99
,~ Mrs. Saringer said she had recently read a newspaper article that stated Westlake is
contemplating widening Columbia Road. She wondered if it was not a good time for
North Olmsted to try to negotiate and get our portion widened also in order to take out
the curve. Mr. McKay said that ODOT has stated many times that they will not build a
road that is outdated by the time that it is built. Unless Westlake increases their part of
Columbia Road to four lanes, ODOT will not help. If Westlake is going to four lanes, he
will be happy to see it. Mr. Gareau said that the Westlake area to be widened is to the
north of Center Ridge Road, which does not directly abut North Olmsted. However, he is
open for the idea of looking at Columbia Road for reasons other than simply widening. It
needs some attention in other respects, but that is a project for another year.
Mr. O'Grady scheduled a Finance Committee meeting for Monday, March 8, at 6 p.m. to
discuss Ordinances 99-29, 99-30 and 99-32. The directors of Finance and Service and
the Mayor are invited. With regard to Ordinance 99-35, appropriations, he scheduled
meetings for 6 p.m. on March 10 to discuss Safety; from 6 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, March
11, to discuss NOMBL and the General Fund; Saturday, March 13, 1 p.m. to discuss
Springvale, Recreation and WWTP. For those meetings the directors of Finance and
Service and each director or manager of the different divisions to be discussed are
invited.
Mrs. Kasler scheduled a Recreation Committee meeting at 7 p.m. on Monday, March 8.
The Safety Director and entire Council are invited to attend this joint meeting with the
Recreation Commission. The Recreation budget will be discussed.
Mr. McKay scheduled a Streets & Drainage meeting for 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 9,
to discuss the legislation assigned to the committee. Mr. Bohlmann is requested to attend.
Mr. Gareau scheduled a BZD meeting for Tuesday, March 9, at 6 p.m. to discuss
Planning Commission items, Ordinance 98-131 for clarification, Ordinance 95-117 and
the proposed Halleen Kia dealership. A representative from the Engineering and
Building Departments are invited and the Assistant Director of Law Jim Dubelko.
Mr. Nashar scheduled a Public Safety Committee meeting for March 9 immediately
following the Streets & Drainage Committee to discuss Ordinance 99-3. The Safety
Director is invited to attend.
With the agenda being completed and there being no further business to come before
Council, President Saringer adjourned the meeting at 9:13 p.m.
~ t
~.tcc,.c.. ~ rig-•^--~-~_..,
l Barbara L.
