Council Minutes of 2/2/99
limitation. Corrected shielding to be installed by February 16, 1999. Please bear in mind
that the fixtures utilized for lighting the means of egress must have re-strike capabilities.
Concerning the installation of the new awning to the fixtures, this is not a code issue and
has no bearing of the ability of the neighbors to reasonably enjoy the use of their
property. That may be installed at any time within the next year. If you have any
questions or concerns regarding this issue, please feel free to contact me." Hopefully,
Manor Care will be compliant by February 16 with the order of the Building Department
to shield the lights as they have said for the better part of six months that they would do.
If the matter is not taken care of by February 16, the Law Department will be asked to
take action to make sure that Manor Care does comply.
Mr. Miller scheduled a Transportation Committee meeting for 7 p.m. on February 16 to
discuss Ordinance 99-3. The Safety Director is invited to attend. If there are any
deletions, additions or changes from either the Traffic Engineer or Police Chief, they
should also attend.
Mr. Limpert moved to excuse the absence of Council President Saringer. The motion
was seconded by Mr. Gareau and unanimously approved.
Mr. Gareau advised that the Mayor's task force on sewer rates had its first meeting.
Chairperson Dennis Long gave a comprehensive tour of the Wastewater Treatment Plant
which was very informative. He will keep Council apprised of future meetings.
Mr. McKay gave a warning to citizens that Ameritech has instituted a "redial" service.
For a fee of 75 cents, a previously busy number will be automatically redialed.
Unfortunately, the recorded explanation of the service mentions the 75 cent charge at the
end of the message. Many people, especially senior citizens, have been confused by this
service and are paying for a service they do not want or need. He asked the local media
to get it in their papers so that the residents can be better informed.
With the agenda being completed and there being no further business to come before
Council, President Pro Tem O'Grady adjourned the meeting at 9:05 p.m.
,~
"""~K V 1 `
Barbara L.
