Council Minutes of 12/19/00 <br />Mr. Nashar moved that Council approve Babies `R' Us and the free standing <br />building on Lorain Road, subject to all the recommendations and requirements of the <br />boards, commissions and committees. The motion was seconded by Councilman <br />Gareau and passed unanimously. <br />• Developers. Diversified, a new building proposed to be built by Tony Roma's. (P.P. <br />No. 235-27-99) The proposal is to construct a new 5,400 square foot building with <br />parking and landscaping. Representing Developers Diversified was Gary Hough. <br />The new addition will have a dark red brick on the bottom portion, a buff masonry on <br />the top. This will match the surrounding buildings of Chuckie Cheese and Tony <br />Roma's. There will be 130 additional parking spaces to be provided. Landscaping <br />will be required on the north side of the building, plus 3 additional trees that the City <br />Forester recommended which are Norway Maples to be planted adjacent to the <br />Brookpark Road side. This will replace dying or dead trees and add more <br />landscaping. The BZD committee recommended approval. Mr. Nashar made a <br />motion that Council approve Developers Diversified at Great Northern Mall P. P. No. <br />235-27-99 subject to all the recommendations and requirements of all the boards and <br />commissions and committee. The motion was seconded by Mr. O'Grady. Mr. <br />Gareau asked whether the trees that were to be planted to the north side of the <br />structure toward Brookpark were Maples or Oaks. Mr. Nashar said he had checked <br />with the City Forester on that and it was Maples. Mr. O'Grady noted that was to be <br />consistent with the city plan for that side of the street. Mr. Nashar said that was <br />correct. The motion passed unanimously. <br />Mr. McKay, chairperson of the Finance Committee: 1) The committee met on Monday, <br />December 18. Present were committee members Limpert, O'Grady and McKay; <br />Councilman Gareau and President of Council Saringer; Mayor Musial, Assistant Law <br />Director Dubelko, Service Director Bohlmann, Finance Director Copfer, Safety Director <br />Jenkins. Agenda items were as follows: <br />• Funding the brochure and city-wide mailing for the Vision Year 2000 Committee. <br />The total cost of this mailing would be $16,000 or $1.04 per household. A <br />recommendation was made to hold this in committee pending a legal opinion on the <br />use of city money to fund this type of project. <br />• Ordinance 2000-111, which establishes pay ranges for the administrative and <br />legislative personnel. The wage increase is 3%. The range for the Assistant Clerk of <br />Council will be $17, 3 82 in 2001, $18,109 in 2002, $18,652 in 2003. The committee <br />discussed the Clerk of Council's wages in comparison to the surrounding <br />communities. The surrounding communities have a higher scale. The committee did <br />not have a comparison of salaries for the directors' secretaries and have requested <br />information from our neighboring communities to make a determination on all similar <br />positions in regard to the wages. The word "salary" was inserted before the phrase <br />"established through separate ordinance" to better define the elected officials salaries. <br />A new change was made to Section 16, which states that all full time personnel listed <br />within this ordinance shall be entitled to longevity after 5 years. In Section 17, full- <br />time administrative and legislative personnel shall receive 2 floating holidays, where <br />it was previously one.
