Council Minutes of 12/19/00
has been reviewed by the North Olmsted Policed Department and they have no
objection to the transfer. Mr. O'Grady moved that Council approve the liquor license
transfer from BBP, Inc. to Voodoo Lounge, Inc. The motion was seconded by Mr.
Limpert and passed unanimously.
• A change in the stockholders of Buckeye Lounge Incorporated at 24488 Lorain Road.
It is merely a change in the ownership as one of the stockholders sold out their shares
to another. Mr. O'Grady moved that Council approve the change for Buckeye
Lounge. The motion was seconded by Mr. Nashar and unanimously approved.
Mr. O'Grady welcomed Government students from North Olmsted High School who
were in attendance.
Mr. Nashar, chairperson of the Building, Zoning and Development Committee: 1) The
committee met on December 12. Present were committee members O'Grady, Gareau and
Nashar and Councilman Limpert; City Engineer Deichmann, Assistant Building
Commissioner Rymarczyk; twelve members from the labor unions. Agenda items were
as follows:
• Ordinance 2000-140, which is an ordinance creating new Section of 1139.13 of
Chapter 1139 of the Zoning Code entitled "Masonry Brick" required in construction
of exterior walls of commercial buildings; so as to require that all new commercial
buildings in the General Retail District have exterior walls, with a certain amount of
masonry brick. After review of this ordinance, the Planning Commission did not
recommend approval. At the committee meeting, there was a very lengthy discussion
pertaining to this ordinance by the local union members. The committee did not
make a recommendation and asked that the legislation be held in committee for
further review. Mr. Nashar noted that what initiated this ordinance was the fact that
the Great Northern Mall is all masonry brick. He would like to see more brick for
new construction.
• Developers Diversified Realty, DBA Babies `R' Us at 26520 Lorain Road.
Representing Developers Diversified was Mr. Gary Hough. The proposal was to add
an addition to the existing building, adding 14,639 square feet which would include
parking and landscaping. The new addition will be on the east side of the existing
building of Babies `R' Us. The top of the building would be EFIS to match the
existing building and the brick on the lower portion will be a light beige. The
awnings will be canvas, and they will be covering the doorways. The parking lot
lights will be approximately 25 feet. There will be new landscaping on the north side
of the building, which will include aboard-on-board fence, abutting the residential
property. There will be landscaping on the parking lot islands. Also, there will be a
free-standing building approximately 4,500 square feet on the front portion of Lorain
Road, the south side of Babies `R' Us. The new building will consist of EFIS on the
upper portion, which will be approximately 16 foot and a light face brick to match
the existing building of Babies `R' Us will be about 6 foot on the lower half of it.
There will be awnings on all four sides. There will be a 2 '/2 to 3 foot landscaped
mounding along the south end along Lorain Road. There will be low plantings of
trees along the entrance of the drive. The BZD committee recommended approval.
5
