Council Minutes of 10/3/2000 <br />,~ AT&T and Nextel regarding the cell phone tower in Clague Park. Changes are being <br />.~, made to the contract, and the legislation will remain in committee. <br />Mr. Nashar, chairperson of the Building, Zoning and Development Committee: 1) The <br />committee met on September 27. Present were Committee members Gareau, O'Grady <br />and Nashar; Councilmen McKay and Limpert; City Engineer Deichmann, Assistant <br />Building Commissioner Rymarczyk, Service Director Bohlmann. Agenda item was as <br />follows: <br />• RJR building located at 4858 Dover Center Road. This building is approximately <br />1,000 feet from the water tower on the west side of Dover Center Road. Representing <br />RJR was Bert Haas and architect Bob Porter. The proposal is to convert the existing <br />home, which previously was rezoned to commercial use, to office use. A handicap <br />ramp will be located in front of the building, and the material used will be red brick <br />which will match the exterior of the present building. Ten parking spaces will be <br />required for this facility. A window will be put in at the location of the current <br />entrance and a window will be placed in the walled-up area of the garage. The BZD <br />Committee recommended approval subject to the storm water and sanitary <br />engineering approval and Board of Zoning Appeals approval. Mr. Nashar moved to <br />approve the RJR building located at 4858 Dover Center Road subject to all the <br />recommendations and requirements of the boards, commissions and committees. The <br />motion was seconded by Mr. Gareau and unanimously approved. <br />Mr. McKay, chairperson of the Finance Committee: 1) The committee met on <br />September 27 to review Ordinances 2000-125, 2000-126, 2000-127, 2000-128, 2000-129 <br />and Resolution 2000-121. Present were committee members Limpert, O'Grady, McKay; <br />Council members Nashar and Miller; Service Director Bohlmann, Safety Director <br />Jenkins, Finance Director Copfer. Agenda items discussed were as follows: <br />• Resolution 2000-121, which directs the Auditor of Cuyahoga County to pay to North <br />Olmsted all money due and owing the City from any collection source. The <br />committee recommended approval. <br />• Ordinances 2000-125 through 2000-129, which adjust the compensation for the <br />following elected officials: President of Council, Ward Council members, Mayor, <br />Director of Law and Director of Finance. These ordinances were held in committee <br />awaiting more information from surrounding communities in order to make <br />comparisons. The salaries for elected officials must be set prior to their election in <br />2001. <br />AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION <br />Duane Limpert, 4921 Berkshire Drive <br />• Addressed Council as a resident and the co-chairperson of the committee which is <br />promoting passage of the library issue. Council members often hear complaints about <br />too many retail stores, vacant stores and the need to improve the way the city looks. <br />The library issue is an opportunity for the people and the corporate citizens of North <br />Olmsted to help upgrade the look of Lorain Road and to improve the image of the <br />city. County government considers this portion of Lorain Road a Target Improvement <br />4 <br /> <br />
