MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCII, <br />''~" OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />SEPTEMBER 19, 2000 <br />Present: Council President Saringer, Council Members Gareau, Kasler, Limpert, <br />McKay, Miller, Nashar. Council Member O'Grady took his seat at <br />9:15 p.m. <br />Also Present: Mayor Musial, Law Director Gareau, Finance Director Copfer, Clerk of <br />Council Seman <br />Council President Saringer called the meeting to order at 8:02 p.m. in Council Chambers, <br />5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in reciting the Pledge of <br />Allegiance to the Flag. <br />President Saringer welcomed new Sun Herald reporter Krystine Shea. <br />President Saringer welcomed the family and friends of former Council President James <br />Boehmer who was to be honored with a memorial resolution. <br />SPECIAL LEGISLATION <br />Resolution No. 2000-120 was introduced and placed on first reading by Mr. McKay on <br />behalf of the entire Council and the Mayor. A resolution commending the public service <br />of President of Council James D. Boehmer. Mr. McKay made a motion to the suspend <br />the rules requiring three readings and committee review; the motion was seconded by Mr. <br />Nashar. President Saringer, who was a childhood friend of Mr. Boehmer, read the <br />resolution in its entirety. The resolution noted the many accomplishments of Mr. <br />Boehmer which included his service to the city as a Ward Councilman, Councilman-at- <br />Large and President of Council. Mr. Boehmer was a patriot and a veteran of World <br />War II and the Korean Conflict and served as Commander of VFW Post 7647. Mr. <br />Boehmer had a strong faith and served his church, St. Richard's, as an Usher for more <br />than 40 years and participated in many parish activities. He was a member of the Knights <br />of Columbus for 44 years and participated in many charitable activities. Mr. Boehmer <br />volunteered his time for the annual city Homecoming, was named Citizen of the Year in <br />1983, and in 1988 received a special award for extraordinary service to the city. The City <br />Council, Mayor, Administration and Citizens of the City of North Olmsted honor the <br />memory of James D. Boehmer and extend their debt of gratitude to him. The motion to <br />suspend the rules requiring three readings and committee review was unanimously <br />passed. Mr. McKay moved for adoption of Resolution No. 2000-120. The motion was <br />seconded by Mr. Nashar and unanimously passed. Resolution No. 2000-120 adopted. <br />President Saringer asked the family to come forward and presented a framed original of <br />the Resolution to Mr. Boehmer's sisters, Pat Zeman and Nancy Busser. <br />
