Council Minutes of 7/18/2000 <br />Mr. Nashar asked that a copy of the report be put on public display at the back of Council <br />Chambers. <br />Mr. McKay, chairperson of the ad hoc committee, recognized the contribution of <br />committee members Mr. Nashar and Mr. Limpert, and he thanked Mr. Copeland and the <br />students for the excellent job they did on this project. In future years, citizens of North <br />Olmsted will appreciate this historical record and will remember those who worked on it. <br />SPECIAL LEGISLATION <br />Resolution No. 2000-102 was introduced and placed on first reading by the Mayor on <br />behalf of himself and the entire Council. A resolution commending the North Olmsted <br />High School S.I.T.E.S. program students for their work in creating a historical report of <br />City of North Olmsted elected officials from 1950 to the present, and declaring an <br />emergency. Mr. McKay moved for suspension of the rules requiring three readings and <br />committee review on Resolution 2000-102. The motion was seconded by Mr. Nashar <br />and unanimously passed. Mr. McKay moved for adoption; second by Mr. Nashar. Roll <br />call: McKay, yes; Nashar, yes; O'Grady, yes; Limpert, yes; Miller, yes, with thanks to <br />the group who worked on this. Roll call continued: Kasler, yes, with a brief comment <br />that the combination of the two groups is wonderful. As a parent of former S.I.T.E.S. <br />students, she knows what kind of work these young people do and it brings back a lot of <br />memories. Everyone appreciates what they did. Thank you. Roll call continued: <br />Gareau, yes. The motion passed unanimously. Resolution No. 2000-102 adopted. <br />President Saringer presented a copy of the resolution to the teachers and students with her <br />thanks. The students and teachers were warmly applauded by all who were present. <br />REPORTS <br />Mayor Musial: The city participated in the Millennium Marathon whereby the baton is <br />passed from mayor to mayor starting at the west coast and going to Washington, D. C. <br />The baton was passed from North Olmsted to the City of Bedford. The primary focus of <br />the marathon is to raise awareness for organ donations, a cause which he firmly believes <br />in. Finance Director Came Copfer was asked to accept the baton on behalf of the Mayor <br />because of her involvement in the organ donation cause. Mrs. Copfer's father, Bruce <br />Weir, is a heart transplant survivor who received his new heart in 1988. <br />2) The two new supervisors at the Rec Center, Douglas Nist and Jason Frolo, were <br />introduced and greeted by Council and the administration. <br />Senior Assistant Law Director Dubelko: 1) The master plan committee of the Planning <br />Commission has completed its review of the last master plan which was approved by this <br />Council in 1993. The committee will soon be reporting to the entire Planning <br />Commission as to its recommendations for any amendments to that master plan. <br />Thereafter, the Planning Commission will forward its recommendations to City Council <br />to be acted upon hopefully sometime this fall. <br />2) With respect to the Chamber of Commerce litigation, there was one remaining claim in <br />that litigation.
