_~ MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />JUNE 20, 2000 <br />Present: Council President Saringer, Council Members Gareau, Kasler, Limpert, <br />McKay, Miller, Nashar, O'Grady <br />Also Present: Mayor Musial, Law Director Gareau, Finance Director Copfer, Clerk of <br />Council Seman <br />Council President Saringer called the meeting to order at 8:03 p.m. in Council Chambers, <br />5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in reciting the Pledge of <br />Allegiance to the Flag. <br />President Saringer announced that the following legislation would be passed under <br />suspension of the rules: Resolution 2000-69, Resolution 2000-70, Ordinance 2000-74, <br />Ordinance 2000-76. <br />REPORTS <br />Mayor: 1) On Wednesday, June 7, the Senior Center celebrated its 20~' year anniversary <br />with an open house at the newly renovated center. There was a good crowd, and they all <br />enjoyed the refreshments. Senior citizens who have not visited the center are encouraged <br />to take the time to visit as it is very attractive and appealing. <br />2) The third annual employee appreciation luncheon was held on Friday, June 9, and was <br />very well attended. <br />3) On Wednesday, June 14, he attended the Flag Day ceremony on Public Square. Also, <br />a recognition ceremony honoring 225 years of the United States Army was held. On <br />behalf of the city, a proclamation of acknowledgement and appreciation was presented to <br />an Army representative. <br />4) The city is proposing a new city library and hopes to have the issue on the ballot for <br />the November 7 election. The proposed library site is located on the "golden triangle." <br />This is an area of land which is bounded by Dover Center, Lorain and Butternut Ridge <br />roads, with the parcels of land being involved primarily being the James Lumber parcel, <br />the old gasoline station parcel, and extending southeast through Butternut Ridge Road <br />involving approximately six parcels in that area. <br />5) He will introduce an ordinance this evening regarding the Northern Ohio Golf <br />Association. NOGA is proposing to locate their administrative headquarters and Hall of <br />Fame in North Olmsted. This is a very welcome, prestigious organization that has an <br />excellent youth program. This will be a good adjunct to Springvale Golf Club. <br />6) Great Northern Mall has announced that another major anchor store and retail space <br />will be added to the mall. This proposed expansion is projected to exceed $20 million in <br />physical improvements and it reflects the mall's commitment to the future ensuring that <br />
