MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />:.: OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />APRIL 18, 2000 <br />Present: Council President Saringer, Council Members Gareau, Kasler, Limpert, <br />McKay, Miller, Nashar, O'Grady <br />Also Present: Law Director Gareau, Finance Director Copfer, Clerk of Council Seman <br />Council President Saringer called the meeting to order at 8:05 p.m. in Council Chambers, <br />5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in reciting the Pledge of <br />Allegiance to the Flag. <br />President Saringer announced that Resolution 2000-36, a resolution urging the U. S. <br />Senate to move on the international bill of rights for women known as CEDAW, would <br />be passed under suspension of the rules. <br />The minutes of the Council meeting of March 8, 2000 were approved as written. <br />REPORTS <br />President Saringer reported on behalf of Mayor Musial: 1) Under the coordination of <br />Mary Creadon, the census volunteers have completed their telephone calls to the <br />residents in the City of North Olmsted to remind them to complete and return their census <br />2000 form by April 17. We stressed that the Census 2000 will affect their future and that <br />the goal for the City of North Olmsted was to have an accurate count. The Census 2000 <br />does have a website available for tracking the initial response rate. As of April 11, the <br />City of North Olmsted's response rate was 78%. The follow-up on the Census 2000 now <br />rests in the hands of the Census Bureau. The Lorain County census office, which has <br />jurisdiction of our city, will follow through with door-to-door contact to the residents that <br />have not responded and will assist those who may have questions. Thank you to the <br />census volunteers for their time and effort in support of having an accurate count for the <br />Census 2000 in North Olmsted. <br />2) A Mother's Day brunch will be held at Springvale, May 14, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. <br />Reservations are required for the buffet style menu. Cost is $14.95 for adults, $12.95 for <br />seniors, $12.95 for children 8 to 12, and $6.95 for children 4 to 7. It's a great way to treat <br />your mother and give her a break from cooking. Enjoy. <br />3) Mayor Musial is in receipt of a letter with regard to the bike path: "Dear Mayor <br />Musial, we are writing this letter to you in the hopes that a possible solution can be <br />found. The subject we are referring to is our bike path. For years, past administrations <br />have talked about but never pursued connecting the current bike path which runs along <br />480 ftom Great Northern Blvd. to Stearns Road into the Metroparks bike path.
