The committee recommended approval. Mr.
O'Grady moved that Council approve the liquor permit transfer from Success
Management Inc. to Trimus LLC,. The motion was seconded by Mr. Limpert and
unanimously approved.
Mr. McKay, chairperson of the Finance Committee: 1) The committee met on April 4.
In attendance were committee members O'Grady, Limpert, McKay; President of Council
Saringer; Councilpersons Gareau, Miller and Kasler; Mayor Musial, Service Director
Bohlmann, Safety Director Jenkins and Finance Director Copfer; numerous residents
from the Bradley Road area. The purpose of the meeting was to review capital
improvements. It was the desire of all of Council to meet on Saturday, April 8, at 12
noon to make a visit to the sites where the improvements are needed. At that time, the
proposals will again be discussed.
2) The committee reviewed a proposal to improve Canterbury Road South from Butternut
Ridge to the golf course. More information is needed before any decision on that project
can be made.
AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION
Gemma Szabo, 30837 Bradley Road, expressed concern about Ordinance 2000-32 which
authorizes the city to purchase land on Bradley Road. Mrs. Szabo asked for a definition
of "municipal purpose" as used in the legislation. Law Director Gareau said it means
basically the acquisition is to be used for some municipal purpose--be it service,
recreation or anything that the city is involved in and there is expressed a need to acquire
the property for the municipal purpose. Mrs. Szabo asked why the city wants to buy the
property and let it stand for 10 years or so when the city does not have the money to pay
the bills it has right now. The city is in debt, and she has heard many times that the
money is not there. How come this money was found? President Saringer explained that
this legislation will be assigned to a committee to be further discussed. The Mayor is
presenting the ordinance tonight and, to her knowledge, it has not been discussed. She
does not know the cost or what the plans are. Mr. Gareau suggested that Mrs. Szabo
address her questions to the Mayor. Mrs. Szabo said she and the other neighbors have
been disrupted with this issue many times and she wants to know why the city has to buy
that land. Mayor Musial said the situation has changed a little bit. From his point of
view, he would prefer the city buy that land rather than have aself-storage unit go into
that area. As part of a long-range plan (20-25 years), he would like to provide more
green space in North Olmsted. Once the land is gone to a private enterprise, we are not
going to get it back. From his point of view, he wants the city to own that for future
"~" generations. President Saringer asked if there had been a proposal for a storage facility in
4
