MINUTES OF THE PUBLIC HEARING
CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED
FEBRUARY 29, 2000
7 P.M.
Present: Council President Saringer, Council Members Gareau, Kasler, Limpert,
McKay, Miller, Nashar, O'Grady
Also Present: Clerk of Council Seman
Council President Saringer called the public hearing to order at 7:02 p.m. in Council
Chambers, 5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio.
President Saringer announced that the public hearing was being held with regard to
Ordinance 99-106, an ordinance creating a new Section 1139.12 of the North Olmsted
Zoning Code regulating the location of free-standing industrialized units on commercial
property as amended.
There was no Audience Participation.
Councilman Gareau noted that Section D referred to the sign code and asked that it be
checked to be sure that it was consistent with the future sign code because the section
numbers may have changed.
President Saringer asked Councilman Miller to explain what the free-standing
industrialized unit was. Mr. Miller said it was a trailer. The state code refers to them as
pre-fabricated units that may or may not be placed on wheels. The motivating issue on
this was the fact that a trailer was to go in at the Motor Cars location. The concern was
that the city would have a plethora of trailers along Lorain Road. With this legislation in
place, when the trailer arrives at the location, the wheels, axle, etc. will be removed and it
will be placed on a foundation and landscaped. The ordinance addresses trailers used for
sales and not for storage.
Councilman Nashar asked if the legislation addressed temporary trailers. Councilman
Gareau said that temporary trailers used on a construction site would not be addressed in
this legislation. The need for this legislation became apparent when a car dealership
sought to put up a trailer, instead of a building, from which to conduct business.
Council President Saringer adjo ed the public hearing at 7:10 p.m
/ ~ ~.
~ ,fivr-C~_-~
B tiara L.
