Council Minutes of 10/2/2001 <br />Ordinance No. 2001-123 was introduced and placed on first reading by Mayor Musial. <br />An ordinance authorizing the Mayor of the City of North Olmsted to enter into an <br />ageement, modifying the present contract between the city and Carrie Skall Tipton, <br />relating to the services she renders to the city as a gymnastics and exercise instructor at <br />the North Olmsted Recreation Center, and declaring an emergency. <br />Resolution No. 2001-124 was introduced and places on first reading by Councilman <br />O'Grady. A resolution recognizing and commending United States Congressman Dennis <br />Kucinich (Ohio, District 10) for his on-going support of the youth in this community, and <br />declaring an emergency. Councilman O'Grady moved for suspension of the rules <br />requiring three readings and committee review; second by Councilman McKay; motion <br />passed unanimously. Councilman O'Grady moved for adoption; second by Councilman <br />McKay. Roll call: O'Grady, yes; McKay, yes; Nashar, yes; Miller, no, with comment <br />that, while he appreciates the work that Mr. Kucinich does with our youth, he does not <br />believe that the standards have been met as required by our Rules of Council for such a <br />resolution. Roll call continued: Limpert, yes; Kasler, yes; Dailey, yes. The motion <br />passed with six yeas and one nay. Ordinance No. 2001-124 adopted. <br />MISCELLANEOUS BUSINESS <br />President Saringer made the following announcements: <br />• A public hearing on Ordinance 2001-108 will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, <br />October 15. <br />• A public hearing on Ordinance 2001-109 will be held at 7:15 p.m. on Monday, <br />October 15. <br />• Due to the election on Tuesday, November 6, the Council meeting will be held on <br />Wednesday, November 7. <br />Councilman Dailey scheduled a Transportation Committee meeting for 7 p.m. on <br />Tuesday, October 9, to discuss Ordinances 2001-103 and 2001-117. The Traffic <br />Engineer, Safety Director, resident Steve Wolf, Chief Rupee or his designee, and the <br />members of the Safety Committee are asked to attend. <br />Councilman O'Grady scheduled a Public Safety Committee meeting immediately <br />following the Transportation Committee to discuss Resolution No. 2001-119. The Safety <br />and Service Directors and the Mayor are asked to attend. <br />Councilman Limpert scheduled a Streets 8c Drainage Committee meeting immediately <br />following the Public Safety Committee to discuss Resolution 2001-120 and also the <br />Claque Road proposals. The Service Director and/or his designees are asked to attend. <br />Councilwoman Kasler asked that the Legislative Committee follow the Public Safety <br />Committee meeting on October 9 as it would be very brief discussing the resolution <br />regarding legislation supporting airline employees.
