Council Minutes of 9/18/2001 <br />pay from 65 to 70 cents per hour; the city will make available all necessary training <br />for employees to maintain their licenses; the boot allowance increase is $25 per year; <br />mechanic tool increase is $25 per year; inclement weather changes to below five <br />degrees and above 100 degrees; funeral leave will include step-children; under <br />commercial drivers license, the city agrees to pay the cost for the CDL license; Class <br />A CDL will receive an addftiona135 cents per how for the hours they have worked. <br />The contract dwation is from midnight June 30, 2001 to midnight June 30, 2004. The <br />committee recommended approval and suspension of the rule requiring three <br />readings. <br />• Ordinance 2001-106, which authorizes the Mayor to enter irno an agreement with the <br />Clerical and Technical employees. Changes were made in the grievance procedure to <br />allow for grievances to be filed in substantial compliance. Other contract changes <br />include: hours of work, Recreation mairnenance employees who work a shift other <br />than a Monday through Friday shall have two consecutive days off each week, an <br />employee who has to work on their second day off shall be paid double time for that <br />day; paid sick leave not to exccecl one thousand hours; holidays, employees who do <br />not take sick leave for six months shall receive 24 hours off or a cash equivalent of 24 <br />hours; hospitalization, employees shall pay 13% of the medical and the city will pay <br />87% and the city will offer options with the Option one cost of 2% for single <br />employees; Wages, all employees will receive 3% increases effective July 1 of each <br />year; the head cashier will receive the rate of pay as a Secretary II. The contract will <br />run from July 1, 2001 through Tune 30, 2004. Other changes are: a boot allowance in <br />2001 will be $2'~5, $3(K? in 2002 and $325 in 2003; Secretary II, if they wish to <br />advance to Secretary I, shall pass an employee's assessment test by a score of 80%; <br />Recreation Department maintenance employees who maintain a Class A CDL license <br />will be paid an additional 35 cents per hour for all hours worked; all building <br />inspectors shall receive a boot allowance. The committee recommended approval and <br />suspension of the rule requiring three readings. <br />AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION <br />Tom Hreha, 6418 Surrey Drive, said it had come to his attention that one gas station in <br />North Olmsted was charging over $3 a gallon immediately after the national crisis that <br />occurred on Tuesday. He suggested that Council draft legislation prohibiting price <br />gouging. Mrs. Saringer said she had recommended that be done and Mr. Limpert said he <br />was glad he and Mrs. Saringer were together on that. <br />Daniel Gallagher, 6853 Chadbourne Drive, asked if people who speak were timed for the <br />five minutes as he felt the person who spoke after him last week had exceeded her time. <br />President Saringer said she did time the speakers. <br />Joe Bouman, 23950 Gessner Road, said he had the opportunity to look at the engineering <br />drawings for the new intersection at Clague and Lorain and feh that it is going to be quite <br />nice. He is concerned about Clague Road south of Lorain Road. He appreciates the one <br />inch skin coat that was put down about four years ago. It was not perfect, but it solved <br />the safety problem.
