Council Minutes of 6/19/Z001
Country Club Boulevard. Mr. Nashar said he did not know if that had been
accomplished. President Saringer recognized Wal-Mart representative Dan Golden,
assistant manager, who came forward to say that they had removed all topsoil, bag
mulch and bag goods off of the parking lot and onto the fenced-in patio area. Also, in
accordance with city Building Department requirements, they have moved two
trailers that were visible from Country Club Boulevard out of visibility from the street
and the residences. The area is now very clean and neat. Mr. McKay noted that they
had done what had been asked, and he hoped it would be kept that way. Roll call:
Nashar, yes; McKay, yes; Kasler, yes; Limpert, yes; Miller, yes; O'Grady, yes.
Motion passed unanimously.
• Lorain Point Building, located at 24693 Lorain Road. Representing Lorain Point was
Andres Riel and Dr. Waghray. The proposal is for an additional 863 square foot
addition to the building and installation of an elevator to allow handicap access to the
second floor so that area can be available for lease. This would require approximately
20 parking spaces, and the new design will have 21 spaces with 2 handicap spaces.
The east drive will be blocked off to allow for 2 parking spaces. Also, six 6 foot
evergreens are to be planted as a buffer for these two parking spaces. The west drive
will have ingress and egress, and a new monument sign is to be installed towards
Lorain Road. Landscaping is to be planted in the front of the building along Lorain
Road. The Architectural Review Board had asked that additional requirements be
addressed before the final approval. After discussion, the committee unanimously
recommended approval subject to the recommendations of the various boards and
commissions. Mr. Nashar moved that Council approve the Lorain Point Building
proposal subject to recommendations of the boards and commissions. The motion
was seconded by Mr. O'Grady, and the motion was unanimously passed.
• Charter One Bank, located at 25290 Lorain Road. Representing Charter One Bank
was James Lantz and Leroy Vandergrift. The proposal will add 12 feet to each side
of the building. The building materials will be brick which will match the existing
brick in color. The windows will be a champagne color. The trim will be a light gray
and the roofing shingles will be a dark gray. There will be some EFIS on the front
side of the building. The bank has a legal agreement with the chwch to the east side
to allow an exit only drive onto their existing driveway which goes into Lorain Road,
where a traffic light is located at Great Northern Boulevard and Lorain Road. The
east drive off of Lorain Road will be closed. The west drive will be the main entrance
into the bank. The bank has an agreement with the neighboring businesses in the
back of their building to use eight parking spaces for their employees only. The
landscaping will be improved around the entire building. There will also be an
additional drive-up window in the back. After discussion, the committee
unanimously recommended approval of Charter One Bank at 24290 Lorain Road
subject to all the recommendations of the various boards and commissions. Mr.
Nashar moved that Council approve the Charter One Bank proposal subject to all
recommendations of the boards and commissions. The motion was seconded by Mr.
McKay. Roll call: Nashar, yes; McKay, yes; Kasler, yes; O'Grady, yes; Limpert,
yes, with comment that he would have liked it if they would have perhaps pursued the
issue a little farther with the state and the church to not only have it be an exit out
5
__
f
