MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />MARCH 20, 2001 <br />Present: Council President Saringer, Council Members Dailey, Kasler, Limpert, <br />McKay, Miller, Nashar, O'Grady <br />Also Present: Mayor Musial, Law Director Gareau, Finance Director Copfer, Clerk of <br />Council Seman <br />Council President Saringer called the meeting to order at 8:05 p.m in Council Chambers, <br />5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in reciting the Pledge of <br />Allegiance to the Flag <br />The Council minutes of March 6, 2001 were approved as written. <br />President Saringer announced that the following legislation would be passed under <br />suspension of the rules: Ordinance 2001-24, Ordmances 2001-33 through 2001-40, <br />Ordinances 2001-43, 2001-44 and Ordinance 2001-49. <br />President Saringer recognized the North Olmsted High School Mock Trial Team which <br />placed first out of 25 teams in district competition in Cuyahoga County. They are part of <br />an established statewide education program specifically designed to make secondary <br />students and teachers aware of their Constitutional rights and responsibilities. The Mock <br />Trial competition gives high school students an opportunity to participate in a hands-on <br />simulation which develops their critical thinking skills. This is the first time in North <br />Olmsted High School Mock Trial history that the students have made it to the state <br />tournament. President Saringer recognized the following participants: Ashley Cerny, <br />Defense Attorney; Chris Dolar, Prosecuting Attorney; Lora Doleh, Bailiff; Katelyn <br />Leahy, Defense Attorney; Chris Moskwa, Witness; Janet Ostroske, Witness; Mansi <br />Patel, Witness; Mick Steiner, Witness; Reema Suwhail, Prosecuting Attorney; Nick <br />Bates, Attorney; JeffBanyas, Attorney; teacher Jennifer Lynch. <br />REPORTS <br />Mayor Musial: 1) With regard to the census, his office has not received a proclamation <br />from the Secretary of State or the Census Bureau certifying the population for North <br />Olmsted. In December 2000, his office received documentation regarding the estimated <br />count for North Olmsted at 32,978. His Administrative Assistant, with the cooperation of <br />the Building Department, prepared an appeal and filed it on December 21, 2000 showing <br />a total count of 36,112, per the utility connections in North Olmsted. On February 6, <br />2001, his office received a telephone call from the Washington D.C. Census Bureau <br />Office and was verbally told that the appeal was accepted for the count submitted of <br /> <br />
