Cole Musial, grandson of the
Mayor, is a member of the Webelos.
President Saringer asked if thexe were any additions or corrections to the minutes of the
Council meeting of February 20, 2001. Mayor Musial said he wished to clarify
comments regarding the committee/task force formed within the Mayors and City
Managers Association as to the issue of money being expended by the Cleveland Water
Department for road improvements. There has been no specific committee set up to look
into the City of North Olmsted recouping its share of the monies expended. The
suburban task force was formed to look into the operation of the Cleveland Division of
Water. One of the issues raised is the issue that the revenues collected by the Water
Department should be used solely to run the water system and for upgrading and
maintaining the system. Other issues to be addressed are: 1) the suburbs have no voice
in establishing water rates and feel that they should have a voice; 2) the need to improve
the entire water delivery system; 3) the need to set aside a portion of revenues taken in
from the suburban water customers who provide the vast majority of revenues to
Cleveland's Water Department for on-going water line replacements; 4) establish just
how far out Cleveland is planning to take its water lines because the farther out they go,
the more expense it's going to be and the more expense that we're going to be paying on
that particular aspect. As the suburban water task force committee continues its meetings
and investigations, he will report to council on the results. The minutes of the Council
meeting of February 20, 2001 were approved as written.
