Council Minutes of 12/3/2002
shirts that say: "Your life, our safety." He hopes the Mayor takes that into
consideration. Councilman Gareau noted that this legislation would be discussed at
the joint Public Safety/Finance Committee meeting on December 9 and all are
welcome to attend. Councilman Miller noted that, although the Mayor said this
legislation would be temporary for one year, the legislation does not reflect that.
Mayor Musial said, after discussions with the Safety Director and Assistant Fire
Chief, it was tentatively concluded that it would only be on a temporary basis to see
how it would work out and also that would save $100,000 towards the deficit.
Patricia Deis, 26893 Sweetbriar
^ She is amazed and concerned at what is going on and feels there should be
consistency in the area of departmental leadership.
Dave Boatman:
^ He noted that Mayor Musial had said the duties of the Assistant Chief could be
assumed by the shift Captains. This cannot be done without negotiations. If the
Mayor attempts to do that, the union will file an immediate unfair labor practice
charge with the State Labor Relations Board.
LEGISLATION
Resolution No. 2002-161 introduced by Mayor Musial and the entire Council was given
its third reading.
