Council Minutes of 5/21/20112
Mayor Musial advised as to traffic detouring with regazd to the Claque Road widening
project. It is being done in an effort to shorten the time to have all of the lanes installed
reduced from two to two and a half months down to about seven weeks to minimize
traffic congestion. Southbound Claque Road traffic will be detoured. The total detour
time frame is about two and a half to three weeks, split between south of Lorain Road and
north of Lorain Road. Restricting traffic to northbound only will allow the contractor to
install three lanes, which will allow for a left hand turn lane to help keep traffic moving
smoothly while the lanes on the east side of Claque Road are being installed. If we didn't
do this, it would only be possible to install two new lanes at one time. This provides for a
greater increase and frequency of the cars moving through a particulaz traffic light. It's
felt that detouring the traffic for two or three weeks is a much better option than having
traffic congestion problems for the remainder of the project, which will be about two to
two and a half months.
Mrs. Kasler noted that there was a parking issue with regard to the residents on Claque
Road, particularly north Claque, as they would be prohibited from coming in and out of
their driveways. They received notice on Friday. She talked with Service Director
Thomas and also spoke with the manager at Reehorst Cleaners who was extremely
cooperative and allowed for parking there. Mr. Thomas called some other businesses so
that residents wouldn't have to cross over through construction. She commends those
people for cooperating and helping us out on a temporary basis with that pazking.
Councilman Nashar wished everyone a nice Memorial Day weekend.
With the agenda being completed and there being no further business to come before
Council, President O'Grady adjourned the meeting at 9:15 p.m.
/J~
:c.~~~-,cam.
