Council Minutes of 5/21/2002
there on that squad were courteous and ultra-professional. I am sure they are a reflection
of your entire department. We would like you to know how much we appreciate your
entire department's efforts. Sincerely, Terry and Jane Brennan"
Councilman Miller noted that new traffic lights have been installed neaz the site of the
constriction for the new Tops store at Spazky Lane and Brookpazk extension. During the
planning phase of that, it was understood that Tops would pay all expenses related to that
traffic light. He asked if it was correct that taxpayers haven't paid anything toward that
effort. Service Director Thomas answered yes. He hopes that the Driscoll light will also
be up soon. He recently had the privilege of attending the Police Memorial Parade which
was very impressive. It gives you a whole different perspective about police officers as
you watch the riderless horse go by. After consulting with the Mayor as to the
availability of the represematives who are planning and designing the library, he will
schedule an Irrtra-Governmental Relations and Legislation; Long-Range Planning
Committee meeting to meet with those individuals.
Councilman McKay scheduled a Finance Committee meeting for June 3 at 7 p.m. to
discuss Ordinances 2002-73 and 2002-76. The Service Director and the Finance Director
are asked to attend.
Councilman Limpert scheduled an Environmental Control Committee meeting
immediately following the Finance Committee to discuss Ordinance 2002-71.
Representatives from the administration and the WWTP and those pertinent to discussing
this position are asked to attend.
Councilman Gareau scheduled a Recreation Committee meeting immediately following
the Environmental Control Committee to discuss the Springvale repair and renovation
project. The Safety Director is asked to attend and any representatives from the
administration who would wish to attend.
Councilman Nashar scheduled a BZD Committee meeting immediately following the
Recreation Committee to discuss Ordinance 2002-81. (Ordinance 2002-80 has already
been discussed.) A Building Department representative and the Law Director are asked
to attend.
Councilman Miller scheduled an Intra-Governmental Relations and Legislation; Long-
Range Planning Committee immediately following the BZD Committee to discuss
Ordinance 2002-72, legislative procedures, the Mayor's appointment to the Landmarks
Commission and possibly the library.
Councilman Gazeau noted that he had submitted a proposal for an amendment to Rule of
Counci140, Prepazatian of Legislation, and he asked that it be referred to the Committee-
of-the-Whole. President O'Grady asked that he bring the issue up at the caucus on June 4
and a date will be selected at that time.
13
