The Finance Director is asked to attend.
Councilman Limpert scheduled a Streets & Drainage Committee meeting immediately
following the Finance Committee on April 23. The committee will discuss Ordinance
2002-56. The Service Director and a representative from the Wastewater Treatment
Plant are asked to attend.
Councilwoman Kasler scheduled a Public Safety, Health and Welfare Committee
meeting immediately following the Streets & Drainage Committee on April 23. The
committee will discuss a new liquor license.
Councilman Miller requested that Councilwoman Kasler include in her Safety Committee
meeting the topic of the Dover Center/Pine School school zone area and a letter received
from Mr. Griffith with regard to that issue and in light of the fact that the issue was
discussed at the last Council meeting. Mrs. Kasler agreed to take the issue into the
committee.
Councilman Miller stated that at the beginning of the Council meeting there had been
quite a bit of discussion about the accuracy of a comment he made at the last Council
meeting. In reflecting on some of the comments made during the earlier discussion, he
thinks it is fair that he correct his statement in the same venue that he made the
inaccuracy. First of all, it was a mistake. It was unintentional. The ordinance was
passed on December 1 b, 1997. Shortly thereafter, two people left Council creating two
openings. He was voted in as a Council member on January 14, 1998 and sworn in
January 20, 1998. Therefore, he obviously did not vote on the ordinance. However, he
was a regular attendee at the meetings, and it was a very high profile issue. It was a
concern to many, and he paid close attention to it. When you attend as many Council
meetings as he has over the years-and he will put his record against anybody's on
Council as far as attendance-things start to blend. He acknowledges that he did not vote
on December 16, 1997 when Ordinance 97-122 was passed, and his commejrcts were
unintentional and a mistake. He apologizes for any confusion that may have occurred.
He hopes that everyone would understand that shortly thereafter he was appointed to
Council, and he had been a regular attendee at Council meetings even though not a
member.
President O'Grady thanked Mr. Miller far the clarification.
With the agenda being completed and there being no further business to come before
Council, President O'Grady adjourned the meeting at 9:40 p.m.
,~j
u.
~' Barbara L.
