'Council Minutes of 1/15/2002 <br />President of Council O'Grady: 1) At the special Council meeting held on January 9, <br />~;. Michael Gazeau Jr. was appointed to the vacant Council-at-Lazge position. Welcome to <br />Councilman Gazeau. <br />2) Immediately following the special Council meeting on January 9, a Committee-of-the- <br />Whole meeting was held for the purpose of the reorganization of Council. Present were <br />all members of Council. The following standing committee assignments were made with <br />the first person listed being the chairperson: <br />• Building Zoning and Development Committee-Mr. Nashaz, Mr. McKay, Mr. <br />Gazeau. <br />• Environmental Control Committee-Mr. Limpert, Mr. Dailey, Mrs. Kasler. <br />• Finance Committee-Mr. McKay, Mr. Limpert, Mrs. Kasler. <br />• Intra-Govemmental Relations and Legislation; Long-Range Planning Committee- <br />Mr. Miller, Mrs. Kasler, Mr. Gazeau. <br />• Public Safety, Health 8c Welfare Committee-Mrs. Kasler, Mr. Nashaz, Mr. Miller. <br />• Recreation, Public Pazks & Buildings Committee-Mr. Gareau, Mr. Dailey, Mr. <br />Limpert. <br />• Streets and Drainage Committee-Mr. Limpert, Mr. Nashaz, Mr. Miller. <br />• Transportation Committee-Mr. Dailey, Mr. McKay and Mr. Miller. <br />The President of Council Pro Tem will be Councilman Paul Miller. <br />Other Council commissions: <br />• Ethics Commissio~Mr. O'Grady, Mrs. Kasler, Mr. Limpert. <br />• Cable TV Advisory Boazd-Mr. Nashaz, Mr. Limpert, Mr. Miller. <br />• Recreation Commission Council representative-Mr. Gareau. <br />• Landmarks Commission Council representative-Mr. Dailey. <br />• Housing Council appointments from Council Mr. McKay, Mr. Nashaz. <br />• Faith Communities Forum Council representative-Mr. Dailey. <br />• Fair Housing Review Boazd Council representative-Mr. Gazeau. <br />• North Olmsted Council on Pazatransit Council representatives-Mr. O'Grady in his <br />capacity as President of Council, and Mr. McKay in his capacity as chairperson of <br />the Finance Committee. <br />3) Over the next few months, he will periodically suggest ideas with an effort of <br />streamlining the procedures of Council and increasing communications between the other <br />bodies of govemment. A memo to Council sent on January 7 requested that all <br />legislative requests be sent to the Law Department through the Clerk of Council's office. <br />Legislative requests should be presented to the Clerk no later than noon on Wednesday of <br />the week preceding the Council meeting. The request should indicate the sponsor of the <br />legislation and whether an emergency clause is required. Also, all legislation prepazed by <br />individual departments which need to be reviewed by the Law Director should be <br />presented to the Clerk at the same time. In addition, it was suggested that the legislative <br />requests generated by Council members be copied to the Mayor.
