Council Minutes of 1/2/02 <br />,~,, Ordinance No. 2001-158 introduced by Councilmen Miller and Limpert was given its <br />,w, second reading. An ordinance prohibiting any supplier of gasoline to the public from <br />charging a retail price which is more than twenty percent (20%) higher than the average <br />retail price per gallon in Cuyahoga County, as determined by the County Auditor, and <br />declaring an emergency. <br />Ordinance No. 2002-1 was introduced and placed on first reading by Councilman <br />McKay. An ordinance authorizing and directing the crediting of certain interest and other <br />investment earnings to the General Obligation Bond Retirement Fund. <br />Resolution No. 2002-2 was introduced and placed on first reading by Mayor Musial. A <br />final resolution approving the estimate by the Director of the Ohio Department of <br />Transportation (ODOT) for the city's share of the cost of the pavemeYrt surface treatment <br />improvement to Columbia Road (State Route 252) from Lorain Road to the north <br />corporation line, appropriating the sum of $29,564 for the project, requesting that the <br />Director of ODOT proceed with the improvement, and authorizing the Mayor to enter <br />into an agreement with the State of Ohio providing for the paymem of the city's share of <br />the cast of the improvement. Mayor Musial noted this is the final resolution and that this <br />project has been previously discussed within the committee. Councilman Limpert moved <br />for suspension of the rule requiring three readings. The motion was seconded by <br />Councilman McKay and passed unanimously. Resolution <br />No. 2002-2 adopted. <br />MISCEL~.AN~QUS BUSINESS <br />Councilman McKay noted that at the selection of committees, the President Pro Tem will <br />be selected. He would like to ask Council to consider Mr. Miller for this position as he is <br />the next person in the seniority sequence. President O'Grady said that Mr. Miller is the <br />senior-most person who has not yet served in the position and suggested that his name be <br />placed itrto consideration at the committee meeting. <br />Councilwoman Kasler, chairperson of the Intro-Governmental Relations and Legislation; <br />Long-Range Planning Committee, scheduled a meeting for 7 p.m. on January 9. The <br />Legislation to be discussed is Ordinance 2001-158 and there will be a Recreation <br />Commission appoinrtment interview. The sponsors of the ordinance and the Mayor are <br />asked to attend. Mayor Musial noted that he will have at least one appointment to the <br />Civil Service Commission and requested that person also be interviewed during the <br />committee meeting. He will inform Council of the name tomorrow. Mrs. Kasler agreed <br />to do so. <br />Councilman McKay scheduled an Environmental Corrtrol Committee meeting following <br />the Legislative meeting on Wednesday, January 9, to discuss Ordinance 2001-157. City <br />Engineer Paul Deichmann and Dennis Long are asked to attend. Following the <br />Environmental meeting, a Finance Committee meeting will be held to discuss Ordinance <br />~. <br />4 <br />
