6. Your concern about a single entrance into the Brettton Ridge South and Cambridge
Crossings subdivision regarding safety access will be referred to the Police and Fire
Departments for their review and recommendation. Further, the Mayor has also
requested the Service Department to review this situation.
7. ODOT does not normally allow "Jake Brake Free Zones" on interstate highways in
the. State of Ohio. Some Municipal Corporations have established prohibited zones and
areas in their jurisdiction on County and Municipal roadways within their boundaries,
however. We will look into this matter further with ODOT for procedure in establishing
"Jake Brake" zones on I-480.
8. Springvale made a major turnaround and improvement over prior years, in 2003.
Much remains to be done. I share your friend's concern about increased maintenance
and a better appearance of the course. We needed to make some very difficult choices
this year in regard to expenses, when the weather (rain) so substantially reduced
revenues and caused difficulty in actual mowing practices. I do not share your friends
perception of the maintenance as "terrible", however. We received many more
compliments about course conditions this year, than complaints.
9. Broadcasting Council meetings has been discussed in the past, and no action has
been taken. Council can certainly take up this issue once again, if it so' desires.
Please feel free to submit your future concerns to the Administration, and know
that all Officials are available to discuss specific details over the telephone or in a
personal meeting with you, (with reasonable prior notice), during normal business hours
at the City Administration Building. In fact, many of the items expressed above, could
have been talking points in just such a meeting. If we work together on the specific
remedies to the various challenges and problems, we can promote the City to the
public, rather than express the City as "deplorable, inner ring city, our quality of life and
our property values are both suffering." (Your personal opinion, Mr. Stotz). A
suggestion to you to improve property values, is for you to communicate the positive
virtues of the area to others, while we continue to work daily on those negative issues
that need serious attention, to eventually become positive assets of the City. Further,
be advised that the Mayor is extremely aware of the deplorable condition of Clague
Road, as well as ,other roads in the City and is taking appropriate steps to remedy the
situation within our financial means. North Olmsted has many fine assets as you know,
and these need to be showcased to our residents, and to potential future residents of
the City.
