The Mayor, Law Director and representatives from the school system aze
asked to attend.
Mayor Musial spoke on two items: First, he noted that resident Patricia Deis made as a
part of the public record during a Council meeting on June 3, 2003 some allegations that
city officials violated her First Amendment rights with regazds to the placement of a sign
in a flower bed located on city property. The matter was cleazed up by our Law Director
in that her First Amendment rights were in fact not violated. To the credit of Mrs. Deis,
she did apologize to Safety Director Richazd Jesse regazding this matter. Second, with
regazds to Mr. Stotz's dissertation before this Council on May 7, 2003, he challenges the
comment that he fired more than 50 people in the last 1 S months. Lastly, without raising taxes within
the confines of a relatively flat budget and wage increases, what would have been Mr.
Stotz's recommendations to provide a balanced budget for the year 2003,
Mr. Dailey said he wanted to commend Aaron Arlinghaus, a resident of North Olmsted,
for becoming the first ever track and field champion from North Olmsted High School
when he won the 3200 meter race. He asked that Council send a congratulatory letter to
him and perhaps the Mayor's office could recognize his accomplishments as a student
athlete in North Olmsted.
Councilman Nashar moved to excuse the absence of Councilman Miller and Councilman
Limpert. The motion was seconded by Councilman Gareau and passed unanimously.
21
