Council Minutes of 6/3/2003 <br />and dedicated service to Scouting. Mrs. Allamon and Mr. Ball were congratulated by City <br />Council, members of the administration and all present. <br />President O'Grady introduced the Sabino and Sebring families and asked that they be <br />recognized for participating as host families to exchange students from Germany during this <br />past school year. Exchange students Hania Dinkelaker and Phillip Grimm were asked to <br />come forward to receive the fallowing letter: "On behalf of myself and the members of <br />North Olmsted City Council, I congratulate you on the completion of a successful year as a <br />foreign exchange student in the United States of America. It is our sincere hope that you <br />have been enriched by a year of learning about and participating in our culture. I assure you <br />that the students and staff at North Olmsted High School, and our community as a whole, <br />have been enriched by your presence. In this time of uncertainty in our world, an exchange <br />of ideas and beliefs helps to bring us all closer together. Our very best wishes go with you as <br />you return home. We hope the friendships you developed during this year will continue and <br />that you will visit our country and our city again often." Mayor Musial presented <br />proclamations to Hania Dinkelaker from Berlin, Germany and Phillip Grimm from Frankfurt, <br />Germany. Hania and Phillip were congratulated on their successful year in North Olmsted <br />and commended for their achievements and commitment to learning about American life. <br />Mayor Musial proclaimed Hania and Phillip as honorary citizens of North Olmsted. Hania <br />and Phillip were congratulated by City Council, members of the administration and all <br />present. Councilman Limpert commented that Philip's father, Herman, who was in <br />attendance had also been an exchange student and had graduated with him from North <br />Olmsted High School in 1970. Mr. Grimm was warmly welcomed back to North Olmsted <br />by all. <br />President O'Grady made the following announcements: <br />^ Legislation to be passed under suspension of the rules: Resolution Nos. 2003-83 and <br />2003-90. <br />^ On Tuesday, July 10, at approximately 6:30 p.m. aCommittee-of--the-Whole meeting will <br />be held to discuss the Planning Director and Property Maintenance Inspector positions. <br />^ Council will be on vacation the month of July. <br />RE- <br />Mayor Musial: 1) The Board of Control met today and awarded the contract for South <br />Canterbury Road rehab to the Osterland Company at a price of $39,982.50, which is lower <br />than the engineering estimate of $40,700. <br />2) As there were questions raised on the new library construction, he just wanted to reassure <br />Council that we are on schedule with our established timeline. <br />3) This Thursday apre-construction meeting will be held on the Lorain Road rehab project, <br />with work to start in a couple of weeks. <br />4} During the last month, he attended three DARE graduations at Pine School, Chestnut <br />School, and St. Brendan's School. <br />5) On May 30, he helped cut the ribbon welcoming a new business in North Olmsted, the <br />One-Half Price Bookstore. This is a franchise operation which is active in 11 states and has <br />many bargains. <br />6) On May 31, he attended Chambers Funeral Home grand opening. It is a beautiful addition <br />to the City of North Olmsted. <br />2 <br />
