,,~ MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COi'TNCII. <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />MARCH 18, 2003 <br />Present: President of Council O'Grady, Council Members Dailey, Gareau, Kasler, <br />Limpert, McKay, Miller, Nashar <br />Also Present: Mayor Musial, Law Director Dubelko, Finance Director Copfer, Clerk of <br />Council Seman <br />President of Council O'Grady called the meeting to order at 8:03 p.m. in Council <br />Chambers, 5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in reciting the Pledge of <br />Allegiance to the Flag. <br />Councilman Gareau made a motion to amend the agenda to include on first reading <br />Resolution 2003-49 and Ordinance 2003-50. The motion was seconded by Councilman <br />Nashar and passed unanimously. <br />Mayor Musial asked that the minutes of the Council meeting of February 18, 2003 be <br />corrected to reflect the name of the Avon Lake mayor to be Mr. Berger. The minutes <br />were approved as corrected. <br />The minutes of the Council meeting of March 4, 2003 were approved as written. <br />President O'Grady announced the following pieces of legislation would be passed under <br />suspension of the rules: Ordinance 2003-12, 2003-40 and Resolution 2003-46. <br />Eft )PORTS <br />Mayor Musial: 1) We are at a time when our country is proceeding into a potential war <br />with Iraq. Certainly our hearts go out to the individuals who are there supporting our <br />freedoms. If there is a war, we all hope it will be short and our armed forces will come <br />home very shortly. <br />2) The country is now at an orange alert. If we do get to a red alert, the city will be <br />increasing the staffing of both the fire and the police. Our Safety Director has had <br />meetings with the safety forces, a school representative, and a mall representative to <br />analyze and discuss the various procedures that will be followed in the event that we have <br />any difficulties in our city. <br />3) The grand opening of Dillard's will be held tomorrow. This is amulti-million dollar <br />venture that will provide employment for approximately 300 people, mostly on a part- <br />timebasis. There will be some increase in income tax revenue from these employees, and <br /> <br />
