Council Minutes of 1/7/Z003
Sandy Weir, 26869 Sweetbrier
^ She is the school guard at Sweetbrier and Canterbury and is concerned about the
speed limit for children and herself. Cars are going 35, 45 mph and are not paying
attention to her or the children. This just made it more dangerous. The area where
she stands is similar to a driveway apron with no curb. It is dangerous for her and the
children. There isn't even a curb to slow a car down. This is a safety issue and she is
very concerned and unhappy about it.
Charles Dial, 27959 Gardenia Drive
^ People working on the recall campaign feel strongly it is not a Democratic or
Republican issue, but an issue of what is best for the city. No responsible partisan
would want his party represented by a person who is a political liability. Nor does a
wise partisan gloat over the other party's misfortunes because he knows his own
number will come up soon enough. He is supporting the mayoral recall campaign
with great sadness because no one should take pleasure in recalling a person who has
many talents and accomplishments. Earlier this evening, Dennis Lambert spoke
about what appears to be almost a courlxoom like paradigm for proceedings. It is an
inappropriate paradigm. He is very disappointed that the city is being operated by
continuous continuances. The recall petitions will not remove the mayor from office.
It is only a request that an election be held to decide if he remains. He wants to make
it clear that he does not support all of the ten reasons, as currently written, to recall.
Some of the reasons are just strong opinions while others involve unresolved ethical
and money issues that are still under investigation. No matter how bad the stench
might be, this is still America where all are innocent until proven guilty. He noted the
amount of rancor and ill will currently surrounding the Service Director is a big
problem. He asked everyone to support the recall campaign by signing and
encouraging friends to sign also.
Marvin Stotz, 6b57 Bretton Ridge Drive
^ Read 10 reasons to recall Norman T. Musial
1. Inappropriate delegation of authority. Many individuals involved in the activities of
the city allege that Service Director Creadon seems to have been given almost full
authority to run the city. She was a former secretary and paralegal in Mr. Musial's
law firm. Ms. Creadon does not appear to have the qualifications, background or
training to be Service Director. Moreover, her management style seems to be one of
intimidating, humiliating and publicly belittling city employees.
2. Integrity. Many Police, Fire and Service Dept. personnel feel they have been
repeatedly and intentionally misled about past, current and upcoming policy and
personnel changes.
3. Firing and not replacing qualified city directors seems to be a continual pattern that
has left many city workers without effective leadership. Rec Center needs major and
minor repairs and upkeep but has not had a commissioner for months.
4. Complaints, ethics commissions meetings and investigations into falsification charges
suggest the Mayor has ethical and moral challenges that do not allow him to be an
effective administrator of the City of North Olmsted.
16
