Council Minutes of 12-21-2004
payroll, so the live date is being moved back until the department is confident the payroll
will process properly and record properly.
4) Other parts of the new system are moving forward-the new printer was received
today, signature plates were ordered, new forms were ordered, and the W2 processing
plans are moving forward.
5) The department received approval from the Ohio Historical Society on the Finance
Dept. records retention schedule and also with the one-time destruction of records that are
outside of that retention schedule. There is a certain waiting period, which has come and
gone but nothing will be done at this time as other projects take precedence. Receiving
approval was a big milestone.
6) A very Blessed Christmas to all and a healthy and prosperous New Year.
President O'Grady: 1) The Committee-of--the-Whole meeting was held on December 14.
Present were the President of Council, Council Members McKay, Gareau, Nashar,
Limpert, Miller and Dailey; the Mayor, the Directors of Human Resources, Planning,
Safety and Law and Fire Chief Klecan. Present from the North Olmsted City School
System were Superintendent Kurt Stanic, School Board President Mike Raig, School
Board member John Lasko and facilities chief Joe Hyland. The subject for the
Committee-of--the-Whole was a presentation to Council from the North Olmsted City
Schools with regard to an anticipated upcoming school levy. Superintendent Stanic
emphasized that improvements have occurred within the schools. Athletic
improvements, for example, that were initiated and carried off in great measure due to
public participation and the actions of parents and students. But he emphasized that more
is needed. What they anticipate is potentially a $35 million project that would use
existing facilities on the Pine campus, which is a 19-acre campus and was originally built
to be a junior high. Additions would be made to that building to make it the new middle
school. Other improvements are anticipated for other buildings in the district, most
notably expanding some of the capacity at the high school with regard to band and other
facilities. It was emphasized by members of the school board that this is a cooperative
project. Scheduled in early January are community forums that will be held in three
different regions. Citizen input is very much welcome and appreciated.
Councilman McKay, chairman of the Environmental Control Committee: 1) The
Environmental Committee met on Tuesday, December 14. Present were committee
members Dailey, Nashar and McKay; Council members Gareau, Miller, Limpert and
Council President O'Grady; Law Director Dubelko, Service Director Driscoll, Safety
Director Jesse, WWTP Superintendent Nichols. The committee discussed Resolution
2004-195, a resolution authorizing the Director of Public Service to advertise for bids
from licensed electrical contractors for basic electrical services to meet the various needs
of the Waste Water Treatment Plant and authorizing the Mayor, upon approval by the
Board of Control, to execute a contract with the lowest and best bidder for said services.
In an effort to receive the best price for services from electrical contractors, the
committee wishes that the bids be received for those services. The specifications for these
services are on file in the Service Director's office, and the committee recommended
~, approval.
~,,
3
