MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED AUGUST 3, 2004 Present: President of Council O'Crrady, Council Members Dailey, Gareau, Limpert, McKay, Miller, Nashar Also Present: Mayor Musial, Law Director Dubelko, Finance Director Copfer, Clerk of Council Seman Absent: Council Member Kasler President O'Crrady called the meeting to order at 8:04 p.m. in Council Chambers, 5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. Members of the audience were invited to join Council in the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance. The minutes of the Council meeting of June 15, 2004 were approved as written. The minutes of the special Council meeting of June 28, 2004 were approved as written. Councilman Gareau made a motion to remove Ordinance 2004-125 from the agenda. The motion was seconded by Councilman McKay and passed unanimously President O'Crrady announced the following legislation would be considered for passage under suspension of the rules: first reading, Ordinance 2004-113 and Resolutions 2004- 122 and 2004-124. REPORTS 1) Mayor Musial presented a proclamation honoring long-time resident and community volunteer Mrs. Lois Van Auken. Mrs. Van Auken was a mayoral appointee to the Landmarks Commission at its formation and was one of the two original members until her resignation on December 31, 2003. She has a wealth of historical knowledge of North Olmsted and has been willing to share that information as an educational outreach person to schools and community organizations. In 1947, she was a founder and member of the League of Women Voters. She has received the Woman of the Year Award from the League of Women Voters and was the first recipient of the Democracy in Action Award. She was recognized with honor and commended on her outstanding achievements, dedicated service and willingness to serve her community. Mrs. Van Auken was congratulated by members of Council, the administration and all present. Mrs. Van Auken expressed her thanks and appreciation and said she was accepting the honor as a representative of all those who volunteer and serve on the many city boards and commissions.
