MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />AUGUST 3, 2004 <br />Present: President of Council O'Crrady, Council Members Dailey, Gareau, Limpert, <br />McKay, Miller, Nashar <br />Also Present: Mayor Musial, Law Director Dubelko, Finance Director Copfer, Clerk of <br />Council Seman <br />Absent: Council Member Kasler <br />President O'Crrady called the meeting to order at 8:04 p.m. in Council Chambers, 5200 <br />Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in the recitation of the Pledge of <br />Allegiance. <br />The minutes of the Council meeting of June 15, 2004 were approved as written. <br />The minutes of the special Council meeting of June 28, 2004 were approved as written. <br />Councilman Gareau made a motion to remove Ordinance 2004-125 from the agenda. <br />The motion was seconded by Councilman McKay and passed unanimously <br />President O'Crrady announced the following legislation would be considered for passage <br />under suspension of the rules: first reading, Ordinance 2004-113 and Resolutions 2004- <br />122 and 2004-124. <br />REPORTS <br />1) Mayor Musial presented a proclamation honoring long-time resident and community <br />volunteer Mrs. Lois Van Auken. Mrs. Van Auken was a mayoral appointee to the <br />Landmarks Commission at its formation and was one of the two original members until <br />her resignation on December 31, 2003. She has a wealth of historical knowledge of <br />North Olmsted and has been willing to share that information as an educational outreach <br />person to schools and community organizations. In 1947, she was a founder and member <br />of the League of Women Voters. She has received the Woman of the Year Award from <br />the League of Women Voters and was the first recipient of the Democracy in Action <br />Award. She was recognized with honor and commended on her outstanding <br />achievements, dedicated service and willingness to serve her community. Mrs. Van <br />Auken was congratulated by members of Council, the administration and all present. <br />Mrs. Van Auken expressed her thanks and appreciation and said she was accepting the <br />honor as a representative of all those who volunteer and serve on the many city boards <br />and commissions. <br /> <br />
