Council Minutes of 6/15/2004 <br />REPORTS <br />Mayor Musial: 1) On the morning of June 2, he gave the oath of office to Timo, our third <br />canine officer. He responded appropriately and affixed his paw print to his oath of office. <br />We now have three canine officers, one for each shift: Timo and his partner Officer <br />Anthony Periandri, Rico with Officer Wagner and Boyka with Officer Roman. We are <br />one of the few communities in Cuyahoga County that has a staff of three canine officers. <br />2) On the morning of June 10, he attended a Council of Governments meeting at Rocky <br />River. The prime discussion centered around the central dispatch. The formal vote on <br />initiating the central dispatch system for COG was put on hold pending additional <br />information concerning the funding of operational equipment. <br />3) The weekend of June 11 through the 13 was All Scouts Weekend in North Olmsted, <br />and the weather was reasonably cooperative. <br />4) On June 14, he represented the City of North Olmsted at the Flag Day and 229 U. S. <br />Army birthday celebration at Public Square in Cleveland, Ohio. A proclamation was <br />presented to Lt. Col. D'Aldon on behalf of the City of North Olmsted. <br />5) On June 17, he will present a proclamation to Roy Garland honoring him on behalf of <br />the City of North Olmsted on his retirement as Executive Director of the North Olmsted <br />Chamber of Commerce. <br />6) On June 18, two Safety Town graduations will be held at Pine School at 9:30 a.m. and <br />12:30 p.m. <br />7) On June 19, he will attend the Court of Honor for Eagle Scout Kevin Kurtz and present <br />him with a proclamation. <br />8) The asphalt paving is complete on Claque Road north of Lorain. The widening to <br />include a turn lane onto Delmere was included in the project. Currently, apron <br />restoration is being performed. Once the contractor completes the work at the site, our <br />Service Dept. crews will grade drainage swales and reseed treelawns. <br />9) On Claque Road, south of Lorain between Lorain and I-480, the Service Dept. has <br />installed roughly two inches of asphalt on top of the existing pavement. Our Service <br />Dept. is currently working on berm maintenance. <br />10) On May 14, Service Director Driscoll met with county officials to discuss the <br />preliminary scope of work proposed by the city for a joint application of Issue 2 funds <br />this September. The county has tasked their general engineering consultant to prepare <br />estimates for the project. <br />11) Regarding the Lorain Road rehabilitation project, the contractor is scheduled to <br />re-seed the lawn strips on Friday of this week, and the concrete lawn strip restoration <br />should be complete by the end of next week. <br />Law Director Dubelko: 1) On June 4, the city bargaining team met with the <br />ClericaUTechnical workers and continued interest based bargaining sessions. <br />2) On June 7, he attended a fact finding hearing for dispatcher employees. It was <br />approximately atwo-hour hearing, and the matter was submitted to fact finder Stein for <br />decision. <br />3) He recently received notice of the United States Supreme Court's decision in the city <br />of Littleton, Colorado versus Z. J. Gifts. This case has relevance to the City of North <br />Olmsted as there were some unresolved legal issues left over following the Chamber of <br />Commerce litigation several years back.
