Council Minutes of 6/1/20(14 <br />8) Weather permitting, the Service Department crews will be working on Clague Road, <br />south of Lorain, beginning the week of June 7. <br />9) With regards to the water line at the Bradley Road soccer fields, the installation should <br />be completed on Thursday and should be functional in approximately two weeks. <br />10) The administration has been very active in contacting ODOT and has participated in <br />several meetings with ODOT to increase the safety level of the highway work zone on <br />I-480. Currently, the speeding fines have been doubled for the entire project length, and <br />the speed limit has been reduced to 50 mph in azeas of active construction activity or <br />areas of change in pavement. The north side off and on ramps at Steams Road and I-480 <br />will be closed for a minimum of 21 days beginning next Monday, June 7. These detours <br />and alternate routes will be prominently posted and the information will be <br />communicated to the public through the media. <br />11) Regretfully over the weekend, three police cruisers were damaged in two sepazate <br />incidents. One involved an individual sideswiping two of the police cars, with one of the <br />police cazs being parked. The other involved a side collision with a police vehicle <br />responding to a call. Fortunately, no one was seriously injured the accidents were not the <br />officers' fault. <br />Regazding the construction on I-480, Councilman Gareau noted that the condition of the <br />islands on the overpass is very poor. Although it's under construction in that azea, the <br />amount of debris, chunks of concrete and garbage is an eyesore. He requested that it be <br />cleaned up. <br />Law Director Dubelko: 1) May 19, along with the Safety Director, Service Director, <br />Finance Director and others, he attended an interest-based bazgaining session with <br />AFSCME Service Unit representatives. <br />2) The city was served with a summons and a complaint in the case of Lois O'Brien v. <br />City of North Olmsted, Common Pleas Court Case No. 452783. This is a claim by the <br />executor of the estate of a woman who was injured while exiting a NOCOP van on or <br />about May 13, 2003. This case has been assigned to Judge Peggy Foley-Jones in the <br />Court of Common Pleas, and the defense has been turned over to the city's insurance <br />carrier. <br />3) On May 20, he and other members of the administration attended another all-day <br />bazgaining session. This meeting was a joint session between the Service Unit and <br />Clerical/Technical Unit representatives of AFSCME. <br />4) On the evening of May 20, he attended a Fair Housing Review Board meeting and <br />presented to the board a proposed brterim Referral Agreemern received by HUD. He has <br />a call into HUD regazding that agreement to inquire about the funding for training, etc. if <br />the city elects to contract with HUD in this matter. <br />5) Another all-day bargaining session was held on May 21 with the Clerical/Technical <br />Unit of AFSCME. <br />6) On May 25, the Law Department filed a complaint in Rocky River Municipal Court <br />against BP Exploration and Oil Company for failure to post the maintenance bond <br />required by North Olmsted Codified Section 1359.08 regazding its property located at <br />29131 Lorain Road. <br />3 <br /><.-,.,~ , <br />
