Council Minutes of 6/1/2004 <br />The Honorary Officials were recognized by all present. <br />SPECIAL LEGISLATION <br />Resolution No. 2004-98 was introduced and placed on first reading by Councilman <br />McKay on behalf of the entire City Council and the Mayor. A resolution commending <br />the achievement by Marcus L. Kettel of the Eagle Scout Award in Boy Scouting. <br />Councilman McKay moved fvr suspension of the rules requiring three readings and <br />formal committee review. The motion was seconded by Councilman Nashar and passed <br />unanimously. Councilman McKay moved for adoption. The motion was seconded by <br />Councilman Nashar and passed unanimously. Resolution No. 2004-98 adopted. Eagle <br />Scout Marcus Kettel was invited to come forward, and the resolution was read in its <br />entirety. Marcus was congratulated by members of City Council and the administration <br />and was recognized by all presenrt. <br />REPORTS <br />Mayor Musial: 1) Mayor Musial welcomed Mr. & Mrs. Scouting 2004 and presented <br />them with proclamations in honor of their outstanding achievements and dedicated <br />service to Scouting. Mrs. Sheehan and Mr. Oergel were congratulated by City Council, <br />members of the administration and all presem. <br />2) On May 20, he attended the installation luncheon of the Chamber of Commerce and <br />installed the new officers. The new officers are co-presidents Marjorie Snyder and Diane <br />Girgash; vice-president Doug Sebring; treasurer Nicholas Mazzone; trustees Mark <br />Boepple, Linda Ford, Dee Foster, Diane Helbig, Donna Meyers, Todd Musial and <br />Patricia Sheen. Roy Garland, executive director of the Chamber of Commerce, is retiring <br />at the end of this month. At the luncheon, he accepted on behalf of the city the Chamber <br />pride award for new construction for the new North Olmsted library. <br />3) On May 21, he attended the opening performance of the ice show at the Recreation <br />Center, and it was absolutely well done. There were over 100 skaters of all levels of <br />expertise and a great variety of presentations. We really appreciate the time and effort <br />put into the show by Jeff Marshall. <br />4) On Saturday, May 22, he participated in the opening day of the Hot Stove baseball <br />league. Approximately 500 boys and girls walked in the parade. Unfortunately, the <br />weather did not cooperate, so no baseball games were played that day. <br />5) On Sunday, May 23, he attended the Eagle Court of Honor for Marcus Kettel and <br />presented him with a proclamation. <br />6) On Tuesday, May 26, he attended the grand opening and reception at Dollar Bank <br />celebrating the opening of a new loan center at Great Northern Plaza South. <br />7) On May 31, VFW Post 7647 hosted memorial services starting with a parade from the <br />city complex parking lot to the North Olmsted Park. It was a beautiful ceremony and <br />very well attended. Through the efforts of prime mover Mark Kacirek of the Kacirek <br />Funeral Home, Lynn Eiswerth of Kotecki Rock of Ages Monuments, Jack Boss of Boss <br />Concrete and Brian Zergott of Zergott Landscaping, a memorial to the armed forces of <br />~~ World Wars I and II was designed, installed and unveiled as their gift to the veterans and <br />~~. the City of North Olmsted. <br />2 <br /> <br />
