~ , <br />Council Minutes of 5/18/2404 <br />3) On May 7, he attended a rally at Birch School wherein the classes set a goal of reading <br />"~ a million minutes, which they exceeded. The proud students held a rally and a parade <br />later in the afternoon. <br />4) On Sunday, May 16, he attended a testimonial dinner of District 7 of the VFW which <br />was held at Post 1082 in Bedford, Ohio. Commander Robert Whiting was honored at the <br />event, and he was pleased, on behalf of the City of North Olmsted, to present to him a <br />proclamation representing his efforts in promoting the interest of veterans in the State of <br />Ohio. Also, he presented proclamations to Donna Mitchell for her efforts in the auxiliary <br />and to Art Stone, the present Commander of local Post 7647 in North Olmsted. <br />5) This weekend, the Recreation Department will hold it's annual ice show, "Springtime <br />on Ice." The show will feature over 100 skaters from the North Olmsted Learn to Skate <br />program, synchronized skating teams, North Olmsted Hockey Club and local figure <br />skaters. The performances will be presented at 8 p.m. on May 21, May 22 and May 23. <br />6) Saturday, May 22, is opening day for Hot Stove Baseball. A parade is scheduled to <br />start at 9 a.m. from the parking lot in front of the Police Station on Lorain Road. It's a <br />wonderful sight seeing 600 boys and girls marching in uniforms down Lorain Road. <br />7) On May 31, our VFW Post 7647 will host memorial ceremonies starting with a flag <br />raising ceremony at the Old Town Hall at 8 a.m. They will then proceed to have flag <br />raising ceremonies at Butternut Ridge and Coe Cemeteries. At 10:40 a.m., the parade to <br />the park will begin. The new WWI and WWII memorials will be unveiled during the <br />ceremony. <br />8) Clague Road, north of Lorain Road, has had a preliminary coating done. As soon as <br />the turn lane near Lorain Road is complete, the final application of the coating will be <br />applied. <br />9) Clague Road, between Lorain Road and I-480, work has been done to take care of <br />some bad spots on the berms and other locations in the road, with the 2-inch coating to be <br />applied approximately the week of June 7. <br />Councilman McKay requested that, during the negotiations with GCRTA, the resurfacing <br />of Kennedy Ridge Road to the RTA parking lot be discussed as RTA had agreed to do <br />that. <br />Law Director Dubelko: 1) Most of the past two weeks since the last Council meeting was <br />spent attending collective bargaining sessions with the two AFSCME unions. <br />2) On May 6, he attended the second meeting of the city's standing Charter Review <br />Commission. <br />3) On May 7, he attended a meeting, along with Human Resources Director Copeland <br />and Planning Director Wenger, regarding the Pine Tree Beverage property. They are <br />attempting to find a way to legally sell the property to Manor Care without triggering a <br />HUD penalty for selling it prior to 2007. <br />4) Qn May 9, he hired two summer law clerks, Jennifer Hoch and Megan Wolf, who both <br />are North Olmsted residents. Also, they are both excellent first-year students at <br />Cleveland Marshall, and they earned the job offer by their good grades. <br />5) On May 11, he attended a Board of Control meeting and directors' meeting. <br />6) On May 11, he received from HUD a proposed interim referral agreement in <br />connection with our local Fair Housing Review Board. <br />2 <br />
