Council Minutes of 11/15/2005
have been complaints. Mr. Calabrese responded, and the board became quite active about
quality service. Following his comments, a union person who works at the Triskett
garage spent a lot of time talking about some very serious design problems with the
garage, particularly ventilation. The union is about ready to walk out. So they may be
needing some garage space. He is going to pursue that issue and keep the Mayor
informed. If we do have a meeting, perhaps we can address the Westshore service in
general.
Nicole Dailey Jones, 30827 Windy Hollow Lane, thanked the voters of Ward 3 for their
support. Thanks also to George Nashar for his many years of service to Ward 3. In
keeping with quoting famous people this evening, Martin Luther King Jr. said:
"Whatever affects one directly affects all indirectly. I can never be what I ought to be
until you are what you ought to be. And you can never be what you ought to be until I
am what I ought to be." She thinks everyone can agree on one thing: what the City of
North Olmsted should constantly strive to be for its residents. She is looking forward to
working with Council, the administration, and on behalf of the residents of North
Olmsted in determining how the city can continue to improve in all areas while keeping
in mind how the decisions made by city officials affect the residents.
Councilman Nashar thanked Councilwoman-elect Dailey Jones and wished her success
during the next four years.
Terry Groden, 25211 Chase Drive, said he has received a couple of complaints from
residents in the Deerfield Park neighborhood about buses traveling too fast down
Deerfield Road. He filed a complaint with RTA on behalf of Deerfield Park, but he did
not receive a response. He would be very interested if we could get a public hearing with
RTA, hopefully before the end of the year.
Mayor O'Grady commented with regard to buses exceeding the posted speed limit, that
anyone witnessing such unsafe activity should notify the Police Dept. If the residents
have provided Mr. Groden with times of day that this routinely happens and the location,
a police car can be placed there. We will have the public hearing, and it's his expectation
it will be held before the end of the year. He would like a copy of the complaint filed
with RTA by Mr. Groden.
LEGISLATION
Ordinance No. 2005-131 introduced by Council Members Gareau and Barker was given
its third reading. An ordinance changing the official name of the Department of Human
Resources, as established and created by Article V, Section 6 of the Charter of the City of
North Olmsted, to the Department of Community Life Services. Councilman Gareau
moved for adoption. The motion was seconded by Councilman Barker and passed
unanimously. Ordinance No. 2005-131 adopted.
Resolution No. 2005-150 introduced by Mayor O'Grady was given its third reading. A
resolution authorizing the Mayor of the City of North Olmsted to enter into a renewed
12
