Council Minutes of 11/15/2005 <br />• The Rotary Shelter will be repaired soon through a partnership with the <br />city, the North Olmsted Rotary, and our local Home Depot Store. The <br />City of North Olmsted wants to especially applaud the efforts of the <br />manager of the Home Depot, Mike Collins, for his assistance. <br />Service: <br />• The Sandy Ridge concrete replacement project is complete. <br />• The North Park concrete replacement program: Camellia Lane, Nandina Drive <br />and Azalea Lane are complete. The pavement on Gardenia is complete with <br />the exception of a small portion of the east cul-de-sac which is being started <br />this week. The north side of Oring is complete, with the south side being <br />excavated this week. <br />• The asphalt program is complete with the exception of edge lines an the dead <br />end on North Park and sealing the curbs at the Senior Center parking lot. <br />• Regarding the Senior Center ADA doors, the contractor is scheduled to begin <br />foundation work this Thursday. We expect the doors to be delivered within <br />five weeks. <br />6) The traditional North Olmsted Tree Lighting Ceremony will be held at 7 p.m. on <br />Monday, December 7. Everyone is welcome to attend. <br />Councilman Ryan congratulated the Mayor on his election and said he is looking forward <br />to working with him. He is very hopeful that the city becomes as great as it can be in <br />four years. <br />Law Director Dubelko: 1) For all who participated in the election, Theodore Roosevelt <br />once said: "It's not the critic who counts, not the man who points out how the strong <br />man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done one better. The credit belongs <br />to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is mired by dust and sweat and blood, <br />who strives valiantly, who errs, who comes short again and again because there is no <br />effort without error and shortcoming. But who does actually strive to do the deeds, who <br />knows great enthusiasm, great devotions, who spends himself in a worthy cause. Who at <br />the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement and who, at the worst if he <br />fails, at least fails while dealing greatly so that his place shall never be with those cold <br />and timid souls who neither know victory nor defeat." Congratulations to all the North <br />Olmsted men and women who entered the arena this year in order to make a difference in <br />their community. In Teddy Roosevelt's eyes, you're all winners. To those of us who <br />won, let's put the election completely behind us and get on with the business of serving <br />the people. Over the next six weeks, he will be reviewing how he does business in the <br />Law Department. None of us can rest on our laurels. We have to continue to improve the <br />way we provide services, and he wants to continue to provide the best legal services in <br />the most cost effective manner that he can for North Olmsted. He is particularly looking <br />forward in a couple of months to moving over into the City Hall campus to be able to <br />provide better advice by being right on campus grounds. <br />2) North Olmsted voters approved seven of the ten Charter amendment proposals that <br />were recommended to Council by the Charter Review Commission and which were <br />placed on the ballot by Council.
