<br />Resolution No. 2005-97 was introduced and placed on first reading by Mayor O'Grady
<br />on behalf of himself and the entire Council. A resolution urging the United States Base
<br />Closure and Realignment Commission to retain 1,028 important federal defense jobs at
<br />the Defense Finance and Accounting Service in downtown Cleveland; supporting and
<br />encouraging the Cleveland Defense Industry Alliance and the Greater Cleveland
<br />Partnership in their advocacy efforts to protect the region's economic vitality by
<br />appealing the recommendation of the United States Department of Defense to realign
<br />these jobs to other cities and encouraging their retention; further committing Council's
<br />support and assistance in this undertaking; and declaring an emergency. Councilman
<br />Miller moved for suspension of the rules requiring three readings and committee review.
<br />The motion was seconded by Councilman Ryan and passed unanimously. Councilman

<br />Resolution No. 2005-98 was introduced and placed on first reading by Mayor O'Grady.
<br />A resolution authorizing the Chief of Police to apply far law enforcement grant funds
<br />from the State of Ohio for Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) far fiscal 2~5-
<br />2006 and, if the application is granted, further authorizing the Mayor to enter into an
<br />agreement with the State of Ohio, or the appropriate State of Ohio law enforcement
<br />agency, to accept said grant funding on behalf of the city, and declaring an emergency.

<br />The motion was seconded by Councilman Nashar and passed unanimously.
