MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED DECEMBER 5, 2006 Present: President of Council Kennedy, Council Members Barker, Gareau, Dailey Jones, Miller, Orlowski, Ryan, Tallon Also Present: Mayor O'Grady, Law Director Dubelko, Clerk of Council Seman President Kennedy called the meeting to order at 8:03 p.m. in Council Chambers, 5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. Members of the audience were invited to join Council in the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance. President Kennedy announced the following legislation would be considered for passage under suspension of the rules: second reading, Ordinances 2006-187, 2046-188 and Resolution 2006-190; first reading, Resolution 2006-198. Councilman Gareau made a motion to relieve Ordinance 2005-165 from BZD Committee and to add it to the agenda for second reading. The motion was seconded by Councilman Miller and passed unanimously. REPORTS Mayor O'Grady: 1) The successful annual tree lighting at Springvale yesterday began a new tradition in our city. It is his intention to host the event at Springvale each year. Thanks to Santa and Mrs. Claus, members of the high school Pep Band, the Black & Orange Choir from Chestnut School, the Deerfield Park Civic Association for their donation of decorations for the tree and to Toys R Us for their on-going support of the city and city issues. Thanks to Administrative Assistant Annie Kilbane and to the Community Life Services Dept. and the staff at Springvale for putting on such are excellent event. 2) Department reports: • Senior Center welcomes Linda Hudson as its new Title III Hot Lunch Program Coordinator, financed through a grant of the Western Reserve Area Agency on Aging. Linda brings solid computer and reporting skills and is a welcome addition to our staff. • Anyone interested in participating in the Adopt-A-Family program, please contact the Community Life Services Dept. • Ads were run in the Plain Dealer November 26 and 29 for the Assistant Building Commissioner position. Additional ads were placed in three trade association websites to include Building Officials Conference of Northeast Ohio, North
